‘I started training with Luke and Ash in July and I can honestly say it’s the best decision I’ve ever made

I have always struggled with staying consistent and would easily skip workouts, which would result in me falling completely off track, that’s not the case anymore

With the MBU Academy we set goals together. These are both short and long term goals which helps me massively in terms of my motivation and hitting personal targets

In addition to this, Luke and Ash are always there for me, whether that’s a question about training or nutrition or simply just to ask how I’m doing. I think that is a wonderful service as it’s so personal, I never expected that with online coaching

I’d throughly recommend joining the MBU Academy as it’s a lovely supportive community where we strive to reach our own goals/targets in a non-judgemental environment’

What an incredible transformation from we are so proud of her and the incredible results she’s achieving with us so far

Often when we we are cutting calories in a bid to lose some unwanted body fat, we are very quick to condemn and demonise certain foods!

Whilst we’d agree certain foods people label as 'the devil' may hold little to no nutritional value and may also contribute to your struggle due them tasting so good, they are not always the issue!

There is no such thing as a 'bad' food in our opinion, just potenital overconsumption.

Whilst it may seem logical to 'cut out all of the crap' sometimes this can be counterproductive.

We also put it to you that if moderated, such as anything in life, the 'obvious' foods may not even be your issue.

They are simply the lowest hanging fruit!

Check out our examples of invisible calories people seem to either not see or acknowledge!

Is nutrition something you really struggle with? Send us a DM so we can help you!

You are not a number. You are not defined by what the scales say. Your worth isn't measured in pounds.

Getting out of the habit of weighing can be beneficial to some women but it can be hard to move on from the habit of a lifetime. For decades, women have been told to aim for numbers and only be happy when the scales say what they want them to say, rather than focusing on how they feel and look in the clothes they love.

We've offered 4 good alternative solutions to weighing. This way, you'll still notice your progress and feel that sense of achievement when you hit a goal, but break the cycle of tieing your worth to the numbers on the scales.

What do you think? Would any of these methods work for you?

For those who prefer to track their weight on a consistent basis, remember your weight is influenced by these factors: Hormones, time of the month, carbohydrate intake, hydration levels, sodium balance, sleep, stress levels etc. In essence, don't be disheartened when the numbers don't change at the rate you want. Weight loss is never linear.

It’s easy to fall into the cycle of restriction and binge. When you really want to achieve your goals you’re prepared to go to extremes to get them, only to find it unsustainable and fall off track completely.

In reality, you can have complete flexibility in your lifestyle if you have the right plan/structure. Use our education around a net balance of calories (almost using calories as currency), have fun, go out with friends or unwind with a gin and tonic whilst staying on track guilt free. This will make you way more likely to achieve your goals in the long run, as it’s easy to adhere to.

Remember, a day off track will not ruin your progress or send you back to square one. You can still achieve your targets whilst living the life you want to live.

It's easy to fall into the cycle of restriction and binge. When you really, really want to achieve your goals you're prepared to go to extremes to get them, only to find it unsustainable and then give up.

In reality, you can be flexible with yourself. Life is meant to be lived. Use your calorie budget to have fun, go out with friends, or unwind with a gin and tonic whilst staying on track. This will make you far more likely to achieve your goal in the long run.

Remember, a day off track won't make the world end or drag you back to step one. You can achieve what you want to achieve and still live the life you want to live.

Lifting weights does not make you bulky, fact. Yet it’s a very common misconception.

The health and fitness industry is changing, in decades previously it was theorised that doing endless amounts of cardio was the answer.

Now, weight training is proving to be more and more popular, extensive research has shown it has a plethora of benefits.

We can categorically say that lifting weights will not make you bulky, if anything, it will provide a strong physique that will make you feel strong and empowered. Plus, when you do drop the body fat you require, you want to be left with a shape you’re proud of underneath.

Plus, it’s hard enough for a man to build muscle consistently and to the rate they want, let alone the rate that women will think they’ll gain muscle at.

Weight training as a woman will help you improve your body composition, improve your shape, reduces blood pressure, strengthens your muscles/tendons/ligaments, increases your metabolism and helps prevent injury.

This is especially important in peri and post menopausal women as they start to lose collagen. And the best bit? Nothing feels more empowering than lifting weights you never imagined were possible!

Motivation is difficult. Motivation is also unreliable. This whole concept is something we all struggle with, us included. Lacking motivation is often the main reason why people don’t take action, when ironically taking action is what creates motivation. The expectation of constant motivation that faces anyone at the start of their journey can be enough to put them off the whole thing. The trick is to understand there is a chance that you may not ‘feel’ motivated a lot of the time, but establishing that it’s a priority/non-negotiable means it needs to happen regardless, in the knowledge that the outcome is beneficial to you.

Do that enough times and you've built a habit. Suddenly, motivation is no longer difficult or intimidating because you won't need it at all. Think of the little ways you motivate yourself throughout the day to finish your work, clean your house, run your errands. You don't want to do those things but they happen because they have to. Motivation or not. Let your exercise, mental health and nutrition become one of those things too. Make something a priority, and motivation won't dictate your commitment to it.

Health, fitness and nutrition are areas that we spend a lot of time informing and clarifying. In this case, we receive a lot of questions about pregnancy specifically and we completely understand why. It’s a time in your life where you want to take precautions and do things properly and effectively.

It’s also our job to dispel any myths and false information. We receive a lot of questions about the nuances of pregnancy, some of them we have displayed above.

What’s important to note is that many factors are case dependent, seek professional medical advice where needed and listen to your body.

If you require further information about the details of exercise and nutrition in relation to your pregnancy, please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask in the MBU DM’s.

What’s the most common problem Mums face when trying to prioritise their health? Lack of time.

Kids keep you busy and by the time they’re in bed, you’re exhausted.

We’ve put together some tips we think will help. But most importantly, don’t put pressure on yourself and remember, something is better than nothing!
