Carlsberg don't do rugby teams, but if they did… St John's would beat them.

As we bid farewell to yet another undefeated Redboys team ready to welcome a new one, we must quickly reflect on the successes of the past season. It all started almost a year to the day with our first piece of silverware as the Redboys put out a fine showing to dominate the Intercollegiate Flair Touche™ Championship. The rest of the term followed in a similar vein with losses coming to the Redboys like how social skills come to Captain West, that is, not easily at all. In fact the Redboys remained undefeated through Christmas with wins against Pirton, Downing and Catz/Hom being capped off by a fine drubbing of our sister college Balliol.

Despite mixed results coming from the annual Fresher Xmas Cheese Bulk Program, the Redboys turned their attentions to Lent and the League. Wins against Robinson and Catz/Hom teed up an essentially league deciding match against Queesus. Despite short numbers, and with the aid of some poulets, the Redboys managed to claim a strong moral victory in the face of outstanding adversity (final score 31-31) to keep the undefeated record alive. Quick work of the remaining two fixtures of the term handed us the league shield, our second piece of silverware.

As any law-abiding Redboy would know, we were therefore morally obligated to win Cuppers and secure the triple. Victories in the earlier rounds over the first two terms set up an Easter term semi-final against Robinson. A convincing 63-32 win (Robbo scored a few garbage time tries) put us into the final against Fitz-Sidney for the second year in a row. On a bleak, rainy day in May, the Redboys took the field at Grange Road for the final time that season. An early penalty to Fitz-Sid saw their scoring contributions to the game come to an end and three unanswered tries gave the Redboys a 19-3 victory to cap off the undefeated season.

A big thanks must go out to all our supporters who have come to watch us throughout the year and also to every single player who has contributed towards our unprecedented success. We hope to see many of you on the sidelines in the coming months in what is sure to be another exceptional year for the Redboys

As the dust settles on another Redboys Cuppers Victory, we look back on what was an outstanding physical and flair performance from les garcons, putting 7 tries past Fitz-Sydney to make the final score 45-5.

Thanks must go out to the entire squad this year, who have continued to tirelessly put in the hours on St Legends and are now reaping the rewards. Thanks also to all the supporters who turned up and kept driving us towards the final whistle with their energy from the sea of red in the stands. Finally, thanks to Chris Fell for eternalising our victory in photographic form: https://www.chrisfellphotos.com/220507CuppersFinal/

5 garçons temporarily swap red for light blue in the Varsity Match at Twickenham tomorrow - should be a nice warm up match in preparation for oldboys… Good luck to them all!

The sun rises in the morning and SJCRUFC win again, as is life.
The score line was a tasty 36-19 with a special mention to .675 and the reincarnated Laudage (Cameron) for TWO tries each!!! Soon to be rewarded…
