Longstanton at Northstowe Bowls Club

Western Park Green was tonight’s venue for the C&D squad match against Chesterton.

Longstanton making another clean sweep 7-0 (60-45) in a very pleasurable game ,with very sociable opponents.

So it’s away to Barrington on Friday evening, with fingers crossed for another victory.

Yesterday evening the C&D team travelled to Cambridge to the ever friendly Alex/Beehive green, and in a very closely contested match recorded a 5.5 to 1.5 point (58-54 score) victory.

Another great team performance.

We now take on Chesterton on Wednesday and Barrington on Friday evenings, so more good bowling to look forward to.

As the light faded at Western Park Green, this evening, Longstanton took revenge over a Milton win of last evening.

Tonight the C&D squad made it a 7-0 (71-50) total sweep, another great team effort.

Its a very busy time next week with a total of 7 matches in 5 days. The C&D team are in action Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, so lots of bowls to keep the whole membership happy.

Tonight The C&D squad were hosted by Milton who successfully managed a 6-1 (63-49) win, in a very competitive match.

On two rinks, on one end, Longstanton went down by 6 shots on each rink ,without that happening the score difference would have been just two shots. But that’s bowls , funny old game.

Will we get our revenge tomorrow when we meet them again at Western Park Green.

Pretty sure it will be a closely fought match.

This evening the C&D squads action was at Comberton,where we came away with a full sweep, with a great team effort with a 7-0 (94-48) win.

It was also the first time this season we have played in the rain,which in fact was very cooling.

Next week it’s two matches against Milton,and of course as we enter August match times start at 18.15.

What a match this evenings C&D game turned out to be,truly an incredible night of bowling.

Chesterton giving us the closest scoring match of the season, with the end result being a 5-2 (49-47)win to Longstanton.

Thursday it’s off to Comberton for our second game of the week.

Gt.Shelford was tonight’s venue for the C&D squad. It was a great evening of bowls with Longstanton playing the present league leaders,so a lot to play for.Longstanton coming out on top with a 5-2 win (71-55),so an excellent team effort.
Next week it’s Chesterton at home on Monday,and away to Comberton on Thursday.
Don’t forget its 2-4-2 on Saturday at Western Park Green starting at 1400 hours.

A big thank you to everyone who played in the Willstanton Cup on Sunday morning. It was a lovely morning for playing bowls and the Willingham members are always good company.

After the match, we enjoined a bowls tea with lots of homemade goodies. A huge thank you to everyone who provided the refreshments and to Marion, Chris and Adele for laying the food out and clearing-up afterwards.

For the record the match was won by Willingham 65-56. Hopefully, we’ll win the trophy back next year.

A very impressive performance on all rinks.
Let’s hope our luck continues next Thursday when we travel to the present league leaders Gt.Shelford.
