Bumps day two!
VSBC returned to the water for the second day, hoping to secure a bump on Peterhouse W2.
After a speedy start, we steadily gained on Peterhouse and inched ever-closer to them. Just as we were about to bump, an emergency โhold it upโ was called due to obstruction further ahead.
After some deliberation, it was decided that another division of bumps would be squeezed in - the VSBC vs Peterhouse W2 showdown.
After a brief break, we prepared ourselves for another chase, this time from station 2. A lovely second race saw us bump Peterhouse and secure our second bump of the week! ๐ค๐
Catch us chasing Clare W4 tomorrow at 14.30pm, and give us a passing moo!

Bumps day one!
The first day of bumps saw VSBC don their cowprint and put their legs down, showing just how beefy we are flying down the cam from station 17.
A combination of extreme wattage and Abiโs impressive cornering saw us bump Corpus W2, and we headed into the bush to grab some greenery for the row home.
Today we are chasing Peterhouse W2! Come see us take on the Cam competition once again at 14.30pm ๐๐ค

--'99s Regatta 2023 Race Report--
VSBC re-emerged for our second race in two weeks and first win of the year! On Sunday 21st May we competed in 99s regatta, 1km course, in the W5 category (opponents of college W2 and W3 crews).
Rebecca at five broke her footplate in a power 10 on the row up leading to some fairly chaotic marshalling. We were very gratefully saved by lovely Hughes Hall lending us a rigger jigger!
After a little delay we sheepishly (๐)rowed up to the start and proceeded to win our first two races
against Hughes Hall W3, followed by Corpus W2. We managed to wind it down in the last 400m of each race to conserve our energy for the final, which was revealed to be against Hughes Hall W2.
After bonding with our oppo to YMCA (great choice of tunes gals ๐) we got ready for our final race of the day. Our strong and cohesive start gave us an immediate advantage but Hughes caught up and we had lost a couple of seats by the bend in the reach. Josie at stroke was undeterred and maintained an unforgiving rate 38 for the whole course (your local college M3 will be proud). We regained at the railway bridge thanks to a big push with the hips through and thankfully all footplates survived the "EMPTY THE TANK" call, ending with us finishing in first by a length.
A massive thanks to our sponsors for making such an amazing day possible, and to Selwyn for lending the boat (and a rower).
Crew: C- Hannah (6th year), S- Josie (4th year), 7- Emilia (4th year), 6- Irene (final year medic!), 5- Rebecca H (6th year), 4- Katie (6th year), 3- Charlotte (Selwyn super sub!), 2- Rebecca M (5th year), B- Susannah (6th year).
