Cambridge Kuro Iwa Ryu Jujitsu

Our last training session tonight. It means a lot that so many of you came out for the last class.

It is with a lot of sadness that we announce the closure of the Kuro Iwa Ryu Cambridge jujitsu club. It has been a privilege to teach jujitsu for so many years and we have enjoyed every moment of it. We'd like to thank everyone who has trained with us over the years

The reason we are closing is because we (the senseis) are leaving the country to travel the world for a year. We are giving up EVERYTHING to travel the world with our two toddlers! We are Peter, Daria, Finlay, and Isobel Adamson. We're quitting our jobs, selling our house, and going off on a year-long adventure to see the world. Follow ...

Thanks to everyone who came along and said hello to us at the Chesterton Festival yesterday. We had a great afternoon in the sun speaking to you all about jujitsu, and practicing on the grass behind our table.

I expect we'll see many of you at our next class on Monday!

✨Performances including The Buckleton Belly Dance School, Maracatu Baque Trovao, Helix A Ca****la choir, Jive4All, Chest Community College Ceilidh Band and Samba band
✨Fun Zone including bouncy castles (sponsored by Hundred Houses Society)
✨Sport Zone including Multi sports with Kinnerz Coaching,Tennis with Cambridge Tennis Academy, Scooting with Shredder Skate School and Football with Chesterton Eagles FC
✨Not forgetting our incredible compere JezO's Magic who will be entertaining us with his jokes and maybe even magic!

We are on holiday for the next two weeks.

No classes on:
Monday 27th May, 1st June, or 3rd June.

Classes resume on:
Satuday 8th June.

This is a great demonstration and (depending on the environment) a great technique to use against an unarmed opponent. But in our school we would never choose to go to the ground in a knife fight. For us, this has far too much risk.

The first defence we teach students from this attack starts the same as this video. But once in the position to do this throw, we jab at the attacker with their own knife, remove our head from the grip by turning our hips to the left, and run (or control and destroy if running isn't an option).

I expect many of our students will recognise this technique from our self defence seminar last August, or from our general groundwork defence practice in class.
