📣 Talbott Cup Crew Announcement 📣

M2 will be racing in the Talbott Cup against Corpus M2 on the Meadow side at 14:00 this Tuesday (17th March).

This is the last race of the term, but definitely not the end of the momentum that’s been building over the past months.

Best of luck boys. Strength and honour King’s 💜

(A very dramatic) WEHoRR 2026 Race Report

The crew kicked off the WEHoRR weekend with a sleepover at Sophie’s lovely house. Huge thanks to Sophie and her dad for hosting and fuelling us before the big day. However, little did they know how eventful the next day would be.

Race day itself looked almost suspiciously perfect: warm sunshine, blue skies, and those fluffy clouds that make you briefly believe rowing is actually pleasant. Everything seemed to be going exactly to plan. Thanks to Anna, the mother figure in the boat, everyone was well looked after.

That was, however, until boating.

The wiring to the coxbox had decided to go MIA, meaning only stern 4 could (just about) hear Martha. After a quick round of repair attempts from the umpires, instead of scratching, the crew made the bold tactical decision to race without a functioning coxbox mic. Coxing calls from Martha were relayed via 5, 6 and 4 to bow pair, while Clem’s tech calls from bow somehow reached the entire boat without a mic. A cox material ended up in bow jail [sigh].

Throughout marshalling (and 2k into the race), Mingjia took on the role of a “human coxbox”, enthusiastically projecting whatever Martha said down the boat, assisted by Urim and Olivia, because this girl is selectively deaf.

On top of the technical drama, our stroke Natalie’s backstay decided to wander off just after Hammersmith bridge, but she held it together and led the crew to the finish line. Despite all the chaos, the race itself went brilliantly. Martha’s continuous shouting strategy proved to be remarkably effective. The crew overtook Falcon Boat Club A and St Cuthbert’s Society / St Aidan’s College Boat Club, finishing in 21:45 and climbing from 252nd to 187th place overall.

A special mention to Laura, the ex-novice in the boat, who did fantastically in the race. (We adore you Laura please don’t quit rowing)

Finally, a huge shout-out to Grace (our returning champion), who came to help and support the crew - we couldn’t have done it without you 🫶

Lent Term rowing on the women’s side comes to an end. We’re proud of the progress made so far. Can’t wait for Easter term!

đź’ś Lent Bumps 2026 Day 5 Recap đź’ś

W2 rowed over in the chase of St Edmund’s W2.

W1 were bumped by Newnham W2 on the Reach after a long chase.

M1 rowed over, holding Christ’s M1 off behind in a solid row to finish the week.

A massive well done to all crews this campaign regardless of the results. We’ve seen exponential improvements and progress over this week, which we’ll carry forward into the trainings for Mays.

Finally, hope everyone had a great time at BCD. See you soon.

đź’ś Lent Bumps 2026 Day 4 Recap đź’ś

Today started with challenging race conditions: a cold and rainy day on the river.

W1 were bumped by a fast Wolfson W1 at the Plough, but the crew put up a great fight under tough conditions. Well done to both the cox and the rowers for pushing through and keeping it up.

M1 rowed over, pulling away from Christ’s M1 in a strong race. They pushed themselves to the limit and left everything on the Cam.

A huge well done to both crews for their efforts today! Also thank you to everyone who came down to cheer on and bank party them today - it made a real difference!

On to the final day tomorrow, all three crews will be racing:

M1 - Div O1, Station 17, 16:40
W1 - Div W2, Station 9, 14:40
W2 - Div W4, Station 10, 12:40

Come and watch by the river (recommended spots to spectate from: The Plough or Grassy Corner) or tune in via CamFM 97.2 for live updates. The crews would love to see much support from King’s on the final day!

đź’ś Lent Bumps 2026 Day 3 Recap đź’ś

W2 rowed over today after a hard-fought race, continuing the chase on Corpus Christi W2. A solid effort from the crew to keep the pressure on.

W1 had an amazing start, gaining on Jesus W2. Unfortunately they were bumped by Lucy Cavendish W1 around Ditton Corner. They had whistles on Jesus W2 during the chase, who bumped out just before Ditton, making it a close race.

M1 delivered a strong row and held Fitzwilliam M1 off before being caught at Grassy Corner after a tough battle. Despite the result, the crew backed each other and will be going into tomorrow confidently.

A tough day on the Cam, but great effort from all three crews!

For day 4 tomorrow, both M1 and W1 will be racing:

M1 - Div O1, Station 17, 16:40
W1 - Div W2, Station 8, 14:40
W2 - OFF

Come watch and support the crews by the river (recommended spots to spectate from: The Plough or Grassy Corner) or tune in on CamFM 97.2 for realtime updates!

đź’ś Lent Bumps 2026 Day 2 Recap đź’ś

Drama continued in the W4 division. W2’s race saw a restart due to a clearance failure mid-course. On the rerow, the crew put in a strong performance and bumped Emmanuel W4 just after Ditton Corner. They’ll be chasing Corpus Christi W2 tomorrow.

M1 rowed over after a long and hard race, holding their rhythm and keeping things together throughout the course. They’ll be chasing Robinson M1 tomorrow.

Well rowed by both crews today!

All three King’s boats will be racing tomorrow:

M1 - Div O1, Station 16, 16:40
W1 - Div W2, Station 7, 14:40
W2 - Div W4, Station 10, 14:00

Come watch and support the crews by the river (recommended spots to spectate from: The Plough and/or Grassy Corner) or tune in on CamFM 97.2 for realtime updates!

đź’ś Lent Bumps 2026 Day 1 Recap đź’ś

W2 had a dramatic start, taking a lightning-fast bump on Jesus W4 just seconds after the cannon, securing King’s first bump of the campaign. We do hope Jesus cox is okay after the unexpected incident! 🫶

Later on, in contrast, W1 fought an incredibly long and gritty race, holding off a very strong Jesus W2 for most of the course. After a relentless chase, they were finally caught on the Reach. Despite the result, it was an outstanding row - a huge effort from the whole crew who gave it absolutely everything.

Well done to both women’s crews today! Good luck to M1 and W2 tomorrow. Come and watch by the river or tune in on CamFM 97.2 for live results!

For day 2 tomorrow:

M1 - Div O1 16:40 race
W1 - OFF
W2 - Div W4 14:00 race
