And that’s a wrap on RTRB’s 5 Nations season for 2026… what a division! 💪

Congrats to on taking gold and on silver in an absolutely nail biting game.

(Formerly Crystal Beth)

I was looking for something to busy my evenings and to meet new people. I stumbled across a rookie course in my local area and went for it.
It took me a few sessions to get into it but after 2 weeks I was hooked. In my first month I was traveling with the team to an away game.

Being around like-minded people gives you the confidence to be yourself and do hard things. With encouragement and support from my team I feel invincible.
My first and favourite derby memory was holding back the hair of someone I just met while they were sick. Almost 10 years on we are still the best of friends, supporting each other on and off skates.

#216 Sweetness & Fight

I won tickets to a game in a tombola at Mill Road Winter Fair. They said I should sign up to learn! I came to the meet and greet, and fell instantly in love with the Rollerbillies, and roller derby!

The rookie course was tough - I almost quit on week 5! I’ve now been skating for 11 years, and in that time have had many roles - jammer, blocker, official and B Team Captain.

Sucking at something is the first step to getting good. Along the way, I’ve learned that I am strong and that I am an athlete, which still feels weird!I

love the community, the inclusiveness, the camaraderie, the fierceness. I love that it’s a sport where we hit each other, but not to HURT each other.

Through Roller Derby I have made so many wonderful friends. I have learned to love my body and do so many things I wasn’t able to before.
