Savate Cambridge

CAMA members and friends from Birmingham, Coventry and Guildford enjoyed the Cambridge Summer Open on Sunday 17th August. The day included a friendly open assaut competition, training for judges and referees, and Savate gradings, as well as Savate Defence and Canne de Combat sessions.

Congratulations to instructor Jacob West, representing CAMA and Great Britain at the 21st edition of the Titis Parisiens this weekend.

Jacob, along with Thomas Horstmeyer and Aurelien Zippo, took first place! For those who don't know, the Titis is a mixed team Canne de Combat competition, which included 89 adults in 26 teams this year, as well as round 30 junior athletes.

The Academy also received a trophy for loyalty to the event, having participated in 10+ editions.

Congratulations to Friedy Waldert on winning a silver medal in his first international Savate event. With over 200 competitors, from 12 countries, the Budapest Open is a big event.
Friedy took his first win, with a hard fought bout against a good fighter from the Stubica Savate club. He went on to a final against a very experienced fighter from Fight Club Kovacic, narrowly missing out of gold on a split decision. He represented CAMA very well, both in the ring and out of it!
