David Harrandell Sensei came from Yamamoto's Sano Dojo in Japan to teach a Shinkage-ryū weekend course at our dojo in Pampisford in July to ensure we are continuing the technical precision and in the spirit of Yamamoto's teachings. We were joined by Mizuki Tamura who is studying in the UK. Minds were blown! We're very grateful to David for sharing so much with us. There are always more layers of the onion to unpeel.

We are pleased to announce that two Japanese martial arts (Aikido and Iaijutsu) will be practised in the Pampisford Village Hall from 24th September 2024!

Aikido uses your partner’s momentum to apply joint locks and throws. The main practice is geared to train and integrate both the body and mind and strive to use its principles both inside and outside the training hall (called a ‘dojo’), to the benefit of the self and society.

Iaijutsu is a traditional martial art of using the Japanese sword, or katana. Our sword style, Shinkage-ryu Yamamoto-ha, was used in the Imperial courts. It emphasises good etiquette and mannerisms, as well as efficient use of the sword when drawn.

Essential information: Training is held every Tuesday from 20:15 to 22:15 at the main hall. Entry to premises is from 20:00.
Prices are £10 for two hours, £5 concessions (e.g., student, unemployed, etc).
Currently, both disciplines are for adults only.
