It’s Friday and those pesky little sofa snacks are calling your name again
Those little buggers get you every week!
Calling out at you from the kitchen
Sneaking their way into your mouth before you even realise what’s happening
I know this not just because it happens to my clients, but because it used to happen to me too
And I’ll be completely honest here, they do still call my name
The temptation is there
I’m only human!
But what I do is a bit different now
And I’d love to share my strategy with you because it helped me to feel more in control and make progress towards my weight loss goal

Stop those pesky snack monsters in their tracks and take a moment to notice that you’re having the urge to eat them
2. Ask yourself:
Is this choice moving me closer to or further away from my goals?
3. Take back control and make the choice that you actually want to make.

As someone who lives in a bigger body, I know how tough this is
The constant tug of war between
🥰 body positivity - love yourself, be grateful for what your body can do, saying all the affirmations in the mirror
And
🥦 pressure to lose weight - dieting, exercise and trying to shrink your body so that it fits a societal norm
Let’s be honest, you probably find yourself bouncing back and forward between the two, sometimes in the middle and completely confused about how you *should* feel about your bigger body
It’s complicated and I have no answer on how it should be done
But I’m here to help you explore this

I’m not going to tell you that you HAVE to do things in a certain way
I’ll give you guidance and help you understand the rationale for why
Then support you to make decisions for how to apply this and make it work within your own life
Whether that’s what meals you want to eat, whether you want to go to the gym or not, and what you want your social life or daily routine to look like
This is a BIG part of how we do weight loss
Every moment is an opportunity to make a fresh choice
And you get to make the choices that feel right to you
Sometimes it’ll mean sticking to healthier choices at a meal out, sometimes it’ll mean having a slice of cake at your kids’ birthday party… both have a place
And it’s your choice in that moment - you don’t have to ask permission or see yourself as a failure because you made the ‘naughty’ one
It’s your choice

3 ways to improve your health and fitness when you aren’t a fitness person
1. Increase your activity levels - get out for walks, kitchen discos, find some kind of movement that you enjoy. It doesn’t all have to be step counts, lifting heavy weights or cardio til the cows come home. Moving more can be fun! It’ll energise you, keep you active and when you find the thing for you, you may even enjoy it!
2. Load in the fruit and veggies - your diet and nutrition doesn’t have to be perfect. You aren’t an elite athlete and it doesn’t have to be perfectly prepped and measured, which is what you might think from instagram… how many extra portions of fruit and veg can you add in today?
3. Check in with what your body and mind needs - stop, take a breath and listen. Are you hungry? Do you need five minutes of chill? Are you bored and need to do something fun? Taking time to notice and act on these is so important to managing your health and wellbeing in general - you are not (and shouldn’t be) a lean mean weight loss machine. You have a life and your body has needs - lets respect those!

Social events, nights out and family gatherings causing a bit of stress right now?
You either hit the F it button and eat anything and everything, promising to start again on Monday
Or you choose to miss out completely, stay home and nibble at a bag of salad leaves
The approach we take on is to find a middle ground that feels right for you
You shouldn’t have to miss out on life just so you can stick to your goals
But you do have to make mindful choices about what you are consuming
That’s what I help you with - enabling you to make empowered choices, so that you can continue living your best life and make progress all at the same time!

Having a weekend where nothing has gone to plan? Thinking about writing it off and starting again on Monday?
Ok so Friday night was rough… you were exhausted and grabbed a pizza on the way home, scoffed it on the sofa and just couldn’t face the gym in the morning.
Then Saturday night happened and we’re not even going to go there…
Before you know it, it’s Sunday, coffee and breakfast out with the family, lunch on the go and Sunday roast pending…
What’s the point now? Might as well wait and start again tomorrow.
Here’s a different way of thinking about it… instead of seeing the entire weekend as one massive failure, remember that every choice you make is an opportunity to do what’s right for you.
Now that might sound overwhelming, so let’s keep it simple.
👉 Having a glass of water before bed
👉 Eating an extra portion of fruit and veg that you weren’t originally planning to have
👉 Stop scrolling ten mins earlier (after you’ve read this of course) and get into bed
These tiny little choices stack up
And can shift your mindset from
🧠 I’ve completely fu**ed it this weekend
🧠 I just made a positive choice for me
I’m about to load up my dinner with extra salad
