Pre season has started! Have you?

Client Neil showing us how to squat 90kg for a 10 rep max with textbook technique. Notice how his bottom position stays solid even under fatigue. We have been implementing lots of single leg accessory work which helps imbalances and reduces then risk of injury. Even in Neil's last reps his glutes stop his knees from diving in which tends to be a common flaw on a "max out"

Sometimes you join in the pain together and it makes all the difference!

Pat and Meg in there weekly session with myself working on strengthening the glutes and stabilisation in the ankle and knee through single leg and banded work.

In any sport injury prevention is beneficial to anyone looking for longevity and to perform better. The glutes are a huge part of loss of control with the knees on any explosive movement like jumping or change of direction. So strengthening these areas allows more force to go through one leg like a side step in Rugby or a pivot in Netball.

The last section was a mini muscular endurance workout focusing on movement patterns with slight adaptions to perform the movement at higher repetitions more efficiently.

We used ring rows as a sub for pull ups and banded press ups.

Client Neil, crushing some high volume back squats with 70kg on the bar.

Neil has been with me nearly 6 months and he has recently sat down with me and discussed his goal to run the London marathon he just secured a place for.

His mentality is fantastic and trusts the programme to push him towards where he wants to be. We have just structured and periodised his next 3 months of training.

Squats are massively beneficial to any sport and has a huge transference to any event you are competing in. We are focusing on muscular endurance work with the high volume squats in our sessions. It's important sufficient rest days after our weight training days are implemented correctly to keep Neil progressing.

Although exposure to running is important, some things like imbalances in the body can be detrimental to performance and cause injury. Through movements like squats, single leg work etc, we allow the longevity of our clients to stay injury free!

Running mechanics, a huge part of being an efficient sprinter. Danny (15) has been working on some sprint repeats with myself with a controlled rest period, trying to keep maximal speed while dialling in more efficient technique.

Although a lot more room for improvement with Danny's sprinting, it's a huge step in the right direction for him and for his rugby.

If your children would like to benefit from strength and conditioning in either sport or in general please get in touch.

Michael during a sn**ch Emom yesterday at increasing loads we finished at 45kg for a few reps.

Olympic lifting is huge part of developing maximal speed and power, Michael is currently in his rugby season. Maintaining the speed and strength he's gained in the off season is crucial to keep him performing well every game to the best of his ability.

We put a great deal of time Into drilling the basic of technique and controlling the body so when we learn the more technical movements our body awareness can't put us in tricky positions better and more efficiently.

Get in touch to find out more about how my training could benefit your children.
