CLUB STATEMENT
from Manager Matthew Hassall

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the club has come to the decision to call it a day, and I will be stepping down as manager. Since taking over the responsibilities of running the club in the 2021/22 season, Chris Thurstance and I set out with one clear goal: to make this club a force in Sunday League football again.

Reuniting with Scott Ambrose as manager, we achieved something truly special. The Quadruple in the 2022/23 season, followed by the Premier League title the year after, marked a period where the club became the team everyone wanted to beat. This season, we proved it once again by winning the Premier League. These achievements will stay with me forever.

A special thank you goes to Sheena and the team at The Littleton for their support, hospitality, and the food after games. Your backing meant more than you know. Thank you to Brian Lester who has always supported us and provided on the ground and facilities.

Thank you to all our sponsors over the years without you, we simply wouldn’t have been able to grow the club into what it became. And to every player who has worn the shirt and been part of the Coggers family, thank you. You helped build something unforgettable.

To everyone who has celebrated our success along the way, you are part of this story too.

This is the club I love and always will. The people, the pub, the community, they make it what it is. I truly hope that in the future someone else starts a team from here, and I wish them every success.

Now it’s time to reflect. With one door closing, another opportunity may open.

Thank you. 💛🖤

PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2025/26 🏆

LITTLETON ARMS FC 9-1 AFC STAFFORD

Today we faced AFC Stafford in a game we knew we needed to get a result and see ourselves crowned champions of the Premier League.
After forfeiting a couple of games due to a backlog, our extensive points difference from the pack was being closed down but today we needed to put that to bed.

We started on the front foot. It didn’t take us long to break down Stafford. On 10mins Burrowes played in Westwood who finished with ease. 1-0
4mins later he was in again this time played in by Sherwood. 2-0.
A minute after that we won the ball down the right Jones ghosted past players played on Watkinson who got his pass off to Sherwood who dinked in for Burrowes of all people to nod home. 3-0 unbelievable.
16mins we were in again this time down the left and Wilding was on the charge he squared to Westwood and he did the rest 4-0.
22mins in Westwood was brought down on the edge of the box. The boy stepped up whipped it round the wall and the keeper couldn’t do nothing but watch it in. 5-0. Relentless! We have missed him the last few games… 😩
24mins the boy was in again! This time Hitchman playing him through to finish. The guy was on a mission today!
We had more chances but it remained 6-0. HT

Second half saw a triple change, Marriott/Russell/Sandland for Burrowes/Smith/Westwood.

55mins we got a 7th this time Watkinson who was having a solid game drove forward like a prime Cafu to then put on a plate for Sandland to tap home. 7-0

Stafford were getting more of the ball and were causing more threat this half. Making it harder for us. Burrowes and Smith replaced Sherwood and Hitchman. Westwood replaced Thurstance.

Jones again driving us forward down the right couple of nice one twos with Watkinson and he got a ball in to Burrowes and he finished the rest. 8-0.

A lapse of concentration and not getting back saw us concede a very well struck goal. Sloppy 8-1

There was still time for Westwood to bag his double hatrick and it come on 85mins this time Sandland squaring it to him just in the box he made sure of the finish. 9-1. FT

CHAMPIONS AGAIN OLE OLE OLE!

Credit to AFC Stafford they give it a good go and never quit. Clearly they had a few missing. Great bunch and a credit to the league all the best next season 👏🏻

It’s been a long season, was we, weren’t we? We did and we said we needed to make sure we won this league and we did just that… 👏🏻

MATCHDAY RESULT

BRERETON LION FC 2-3 LITTLETON ARMS FC

Tonight we travelled to Rugeley to face the only side to beat us in Stafford & District football this season Brereton Lion. With a boasting 19 players showing up for them. They meant business again. We needed to be on it to get a result to the semi final!

The game started with Littleton having more of the early exchanges and we looked dangerous going forward. On 5mins Crook got put through down the right he beat his man and got a fine cross into the box for Tuckley to nod in! Great finish! 1-0

It stunned Lion and we were down their throats again. On 25mins Hitchman this time getting a ball in over the top to Tuckley and he made sure of the rest… 2-0 Tuck shop was open for business tonight! 🔥🍬

Lion found a bit more of a grip of the game and began to press. Allen pulling off some fine saves and last ditch defending from Smith, Haddaway and Thurstance kept the us 2 up.

5mins before half time though Lions pressure paid off and they pounced on a loose ball to finish. 2-1 HT

Second half we made a triple change Wilding for Marriott, Watkinson for Smith and Sandland for Hitchman.
Lion come out the blocks and we were up against it now. Their pressure paid off when again having looked dangerous all game from set pieces they got in back post to equalise. 2-2.

Smith come on for Burrowes who took a knock. The game was getting a bit scrappy but it seemed to favour Lion. Tonks squandered a great chance before coming off for Marriott.

Lion pushed for a winner we really had to dig deep Allen again keeping them out!

84mins we got the winner! Wilding with a sublime ball over the top saw Crook p**s past the defenders to round and finish pat the keeper! 3-2! FT

Massive win! Sn**ch and grab some might say!

Full credit to the lion they come with numbers to make a last push for some success this season. They probably edge the game but we were clinical in the end. All the best for the rest of the season and the Jock Corrigan cup final. 👍🏻
