Hednesford Hills Raceway has over 50 years of motorsport history and is the fastest quarter-mile oval in Europe, with the speeds many cars achieve around its fearsome steeply banked turns really having to be seen to be believed! Since the 1950's Hednesford has provided stunning racing and great entertainment from Stock Cars, Hot Rods and Bangers in equal measure with a huge variety of other attractions in between. Some of the biggest events in the sport of short oval racing take place at the venue, with the annual Bill Morris Veterans Day and Civil War seeing huge grids of cars raced to destruction, while the sky is lit up every Bonfire weekend with one of the Midlands’ biggest firework displays. One of the most spectacular events of the year is the annual National Championship Weekend at the beginning of August each year, whilst the annual Caravan Grand Prix on May Day Bank Holiday Monday always supplies the huge Bank Holiday crowd some incredible, not to be missed action. The circuit was built in 1952 utilising the site of a former reservoir. The track is a full quarter mile length oval, with two banked corners, and a tarmac track surface surrounded by an armco safety fence. With the track built at the base of the reservoir, it has the advantage of being at the bottom of a large "bowl" and means that viewing is superb all around the track from its grass banks and two covered grandstands, and there are excellent facilities to ensure a great day out for all the family. The track is situated high on Cannock Chase just one mile from the town of Hednesford in Staffordshire, and is easily accessible from the M6, M6 Toll and A5. Over the past few weeks we’ve been working on the reintroduction of the Panic Wagon here at Hednesford Hills, which we’re sure plenty will remember from way back when!

Used for track clean up during race events, this Venice is supplied and sponsored by our good friends at Chase Metal Recycling ♻️

The last Panic Wagon was a blue 1960s Morris LD which was last seen at Hednesford in the mid 1980s - we hope will provide great memories for the older race fans, and help ensure the racing surface is at its best at the home of Hot Rod racing.

From the spinning, skidding and sliding of the Back to Basics Bangers (Man of the Midlands Qualifying Round) to the pocket rockets in the Oval Track Legends, and from the bumper-clanging BriSCA F2 Stock Cars to the stars of the future in the Scrapco Ninja Karts.

Completing the lineup are the Front Wheel Drive Hot Rods - racing for their British Championship - with all sorts of shapes and sizes of car on a rare Hednesford outing.

What an epic day!

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and thank you to the rain for not joining us! It’s always a treat to see faces old and new enjoying the racing - with some edge of your seat battles and big moments all day long - all in front of a bumper Bank Holiday crowd proving once again how we’ve been entertaining generations since the 1960s.

The calm of the aftermath of the Caravan Destruction Derby is certainly nothing like a few hours ago.

We hope to see you again soon; your support is appreciated.

🅿️ Do you have parking on site?
Yes, we have plenty of car parking. Inside Parking and Disabled Parking available on a first come, first served basis.

⏰ What time do gates open?
Car park opens at 9am. Stadium gates open at 10am.

🪑 Can I take my own chairs in?
Yes, the venue has plenty of grass banking to watch from - plus a covered free grandstand located on each bend offering superb views of the racing action.

🍔 Can I take my own food and drink in?
Yes. The venue also has it's own bar/catering outlets.

⏳ What time does it start and finish?
The advertised time is the first race. We can't give an exact finish time, but events last around 3 hours on average depending on track clearance/track preparation.

🐶 Are dogs allowed?
Yes, providing they’re on a lead at all times and you pick up anything they leave behind.

🚗 Can I go in the pits?
Yes. The pits are open to all but children must be accompanied at all times.
