Self defence for children & adults. Making people safe, confident, disciplined & fit through Self defence & Krav Maga

24/08/2026

Saw this today and it’s a tragic reminder that every action has consequences.

A single punch can change two lives forever.

Sometimes the punch itself causes the injury, but often the person falls, strikes their head on the ground and suffers a fatal brain injury. What might have been intended as “just one punch” can have consequences nobody can take back.

That is one of the reasons I take the responsibility of teaching self defence so seriously.

We train people to protect themselves when they genuinely need to, but we also teach that our response must be necessary, reasonable and proportionate to the threat we are facing.

Learning how to strike, defend yourself and fight does not give you permission to use those skills because someone has annoyed you, insulted you or challenged your ego.

In fact, the more capable you become, the greater your responsibility to exercise judgement and restraint.

There is no room for ego on our mats!

We want our students to have the skills and confidence to protect themselves and others, but equally, the awareness to recognise when they do not need to fight.

Walk away when you can.

De-escalate when you can.

Fight when you genuinely have to.

And understand that once you throw that punch, you cannot always control what happens next.

🥋 SELF-DEFENCE & MARTIAL ARTS FOR CHILDREN AGED 7–12

Would you like your child to become more confident, focused, disciplined and resilient, while learning practical skills that could genuinely help keep them safe?

Our Warriors Programme at AMK Krav Maga Canterbury combines practical self-defence with martial arts training in a fun, structured and supportive environment.

Children learn:

🥊 Practical self-defence skills
💪 Confidence and resilience
🎯 Focus and self-control
🥋 Discipline and respect
🗣️ Awareness, boundaries and using their voice
🤝 How to work with others and handle pressure

And most importantly, they have a brilliant time doing it.

We’re not interested in creating bullies or teaching children to fight for the sake of fighting. We teach them how to avoid trouble, stand up for themselves and have the confidence to act when they need to.

🥷 Little Ninjas are at AMK Krav Maga Canterbury!

We have two parent-and-child programmes specifically for our youngest members:

👣 Ninja Tots: Ages 3–4
A fun first introduction to movement, confidence and self-defence through games and play.

🥷 Little Ninjas: Ages 5–6
The next step, with more structure, challenge and practical Krav Maga skills while still keeping sessions fun and age appropriate.

And there’s something that makes these classes a little different…

❤️ Parents are on the mats too.

You don’t sit at the side watching; you join in, play, learn and experience the class alongside your child.

It’s a brilliant opportunity to spend proper one-to-one time together, have fun, build their confidence and be right there for all those little wins.

No martial arts experience needed! Just come along, get involved and enjoy it together.

More women’s safety events are coming to Kent! 💪

Yesterday we were at Dover Police Station meeting with the Dover District Community Safety Partnership, and our delivery partners Loz and Baz • Stress Less Live More and we’re delighted to say that we’ve secured funding to deliver another 10 safety events across Dover, Deal and Folkestone.

This follows the success of the work we’ve already been delivering in the area and will allow us to continue reaching people both in the community and in local secondary schools.

The programme will include:

🟣 Women’s Safety Events (WSE) in the community – practical personal safety, awareness, confidence and physical self-defence skills.

🔵 Women’s Safety Events and Young Men & Boys Safety Events (YMBSE) in secondary schools – helping young people better understand personal safety, healthy behaviours, awareness, confidence and how the choices they make can affect themselves and others.

We’re incredibly proud to see this work continuing to grow and, more importantly, to know that hundreds more women and young people will have access to these sessions.

A huge thank you to Dover District Community Safety Partnership for continuing to support and fund this vital work.

📍 Dover | Deal | Folkestone

More details and dates coming soon.

Last night the teens were working on kicks in all directions. Kicking is a great long distance tool and a great way to close distance whilst striking.

Tonight instructor Delphine was working on choke defences with the kids at our Medway training centre. Great to see them growing in confidence each week 💪🏻 well done team! 👊🏻 Book a trial for your own child by DMing us 🙏🏼

This. 👆🏻

This is what we’re trying to build at AMK.

Yes, people come through the door to learn Krav Maga, get fitter, build confidence and learn how to protect themselves.

But if they stay because they’ve found good people, a welcoming atmosphere and a community they want to be part of, then we’re doing something right.

Steve came in for his first session on Thursday and sent me this after signing up.

Messages like this mean a lot, because the culture of the club isn’t created by us alone, it’s created by every single person who walks through those doors and makes the next new person feel welcome.

Self-defence brings us together. The people make you stay. ❤️👊

Would your child know what to do if someone grabbed them from behind… while someone else approached from the front?

This is exactly why we train scenarios, not just techniques.

Our kids learn how to stay calm under pressure, react quickly, create space and deal with more than one problem at a time — all in a safe, controlled environment.

It’s practical self-defence, but it’s also about confidence, awareness and learning that they are capable of protecting themselves.

Mixed things up a bit last night and took the class outside.

It was actually really good training on a completely different surface and in whatever people happened to have on their feet. Trainers, Crocs, flip flops…

We spend a lot of time on mats, but real life isn’t like that. You don’t get to choose the surface you’re standing on or what shoes you’re wearing, so it’s good to get out of the comfort zone every now and then.

It also made for a nice change. Good weather, good people and a great session 💪🏻👊🏻

Busy mats this morning 💪🏻 27 people starting their weekend the right way! ✅👊🏻
