Mumford Fitness is providing personal training out of island gym on Canvey Island So, this has been my career path so far.
Hey guys my names Karl Mumford owner of Mumford Fitness I’m a personal trainer that works with dedicated people that are serious about making a change for the better in life. Working on Nutrition, Training and Lifestyle habits to achieve amazing life changing results. First, I’d like to tell you the story of why I got into fitness in the first place. I was like most of my clients that choose to wo
rk with me, I was unhappy, overweight, unhealthy, uncomfortable and at a loss of what to do. I was actually obese as a teenager and at the age of just 13 I was a dangerously unhealthy 16 stone, being so young that was mostly body fat. 15 years on I can still remember the feeling of how horrible and destroyed I felt about myself at that time. I think the biggest shock was when I went to see a Dr about my weight, I was told if I continued to put the weight on at the rate I was, I would be lucky to be alive by 30. This wasn’t the only motivator for me to change but it was the thing that shocked me into action. So, at the age of 13 I went away to a weight management camp or “Fat camp” as I used to call it back then. It was in the north of England in Leeds, a scary thing for me to do at 13, staying so far away from home (Essex) but I was determined to change my life for the better. I learnt about nutrition and exercise over the school summer holidays while on camp and this literally changed my life. I came home a different person and was full of confidence and life (something that I try to instil in my clients). I lost a stone whilst I was away and then my fitness journey continued at home. By the time I was 17 I had lost 5 stone in total but had gained a whole new lease of life. Since then fitness and nutrition has always been a passion of mine and I’ve strived to learn more about fitness, nutrition and the metal positives of both throughout my years. From the age of 17 I worked at a supermarket, mental healthcare hospital and even 2 summers in Ibiza before I realised my true passion was staring me right in the face and that was to work in the fitness industry. To help as many people change their lives for the better, just like I had changed mine, it was my true vision, goal and passion. I qualified as a personal trainer in 2013 at the age of 21 and never looked back. I first started personal training in November 2014 at Virgin active. Then in January 2016 I left to become an independent trainer and started a mobile service under the name of Futurefitness4u now known as Mumford Fitness, visiting people at home or in local parks. This is why I can offer so much as a trainer, I can do, gym based, mobile based and online based training. Now through my own personal experiences and experience working in the fitness industry since 2014, I’ve been able to work with clients with empathy and understanding to help change habits of a lifetime and reach goals. I know how hard change can be but I also know through my personal journey that it can be done, if I can do it trust me you can too. It takes hard work, dedication, self-discipline when motivation is low, accountability, a real want for change that comes from within you. You’ve got to want it for yourself as much as I want it for you. It’s these things that will lead to a successful outcome, I’ll be with you every step of the way cheering you on, guiding you and listening to you.
