Thanks for staying for a picture guys!
Hi lovely gymnasts! Gymnastics fees in CCYC are going up a bit across most classes, including ours from 1st April. Adult gym will now be £7.50 per class. A letter is going out to the parents of little gymnasts to explain the reasons but to save the world a few bits of paper I'll post it here instead. See you soon!

CCYC fee change letter
Dear CCYC gymnasts and parents,
As Trustees we want to thank you for supporting our wonderful club. We have been overwhelmed by the support everyone has given to CCYC during a really difficult time. The club simply would not be here without the hard work of both parents and talented, endlessly hard working gymnasts.
We are writing to you now, because we want to let you know that there will be changes from April 1st to fees being paid for the majority of gymnastic classes. Fee increases are obviously never welcome, but please have a read of the information below to understand the reasons behind these changes. They are vital to allow the club to have a long and stable future.
Fee increases will be kept to the absolute minimum possible
The Trustees have looked at the club earnings and outgoings really carefully and worked out the absolute minimum changes that are required to keep the club viable. Fee increases have also been kept to a minimum by ambitious plans to increase the number and type of classes the club can offer in the near future, using all available space in the timetable, and to work quickly towards ensuring all classes are fully subscribed. We are also working to convert other spaces within the building to allow them to be rented out to earn money for the club. All may appear quiet on the surface but there is a lot of work going on to strengthen the club.
Fees have not increased in some time.
The Club has held back fee increases across the majority of classes for some time and the current comprehensive fee review is the first undertaken in the last couple of years. Although the Club has tried to keep fees paid from rising for as long as it can, unfortunately there are so many pressures now on club finances, they must improve. The Covid pandemic, energy price inflation as well as other rising costs means that club finances are very stretched and for the first time the club will be meeting an additional payment to Cardiff City Council for service charges. To balance the books, the club must increase its revenue. in a way that keeps the club finances sustainable, and ensures the viability of this precious place. We are looking at every opportunity to achieve our business needs.
National minimum wage is increasing
Coach and staff wages make up a large portion of the club’s outgoings. The national minimum wage is increasing on the 1st of April. I’m sure you will appreciate that this increased cost to the club needs to be covered, and our fantastic coaches and staff who have worked really hard through a very difficult time, fully deserve this necessary wage increase.
Gas, electric and other price increases
Everyone will have noticed that the cost of living has increased sharply. It is not just utility bills that have gone up but everything, from vital cleaning products, gymnastics equipment and food for the café. To keep the lights and heat on, and the club Covid safe costs more than ever before.
Equipment repair and replacements
As to be expected with such a large space filled with such great equipment, wear and tear and maintenance is needed. During the Covid-19 pandemic when club survival was the main focus the usual equipment repair and replacement jobs have been delayed, but have not gone away. As we move forward these jobs will be carried out, with inevitable costs that I’m sure you can understand.
Qualifications for coaches
The usual process of coaches progressing their qualifications to the next level has been delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Now that coaching courses have begun to start back up we need to invest in our wonderful, enthusiastic and talented coaches. This will not only benefit them in their careers but will directly benefit our gymnasts who will be able to progress to the next level with more highly qualified coaches. Such home-grown progression from within the club for both gymnasts and coaches has a small cost but will reap huge benefits.
As Trustees our aim is to keep the club up and running for another 100 years! We appreciate that everybody is feeling the pinch now, but we have reluctantly come to the conclusion that fees do need to rise to meet all the costs the club is facing. We have looked around and think the new fee rates still offer excellent value for money. We hope you think so too and we look forward to continuing to provide the best gymnastic experience in the City,
Thanks for everything you do to support CCYC and I hope you can understand the decisions we’ve had to make to give this amazing place a strong and stable future for everyone.
