Reflective writing: seeing challenges as part of a larger story
πΈ "Reflective writing can help us to see how a challenge we are facing is just one part of our story. We have the power to rewrite the narrative and shape our future." ~ Charmaine Pollard (counsellor, poetry therapist)
When we face challenges, it can be hard to see beyond the immediate difficulties. Reflective writing offers a unique opportunity to step back, gain perspective, and understand that our struggles are part of a larger journey. β¨
Through reflective writing, we can:
π‘ Gain clarity: understand the deeper meaning behind our experiences.
π± Build resilience: recognise our strengths and how weβve overcome past challenges.
π¦ Empower change: rewrite our narrative to reflect growth and future possibilities.
Start your reflective writing journey today and transform your challenges into stepping stones for growth. πΏ

How writing can help with grief π€
Grief can be an overwhelming and isolating experience. Writing is a powerful tool that can help you process and navigate your emotions during such difficult times.
When my mum died unexpectedly, I felt like I couldn't breathe. I was across the ocean from her, and the fact that I couldn't even make it in time for the funeral was literally crushing me. ππ One more time, writing - I wrote letters to her - helped me go through the stages of grief, and lighten up my heart, as if I was having real conversations with her.
Hereβs how writing helped me and it can help you as well:
π Express your emotions: writing allows you to pour out your feelings without judgment. It can be a safe space to express your pain, anger, sadness, and confusion.
π Remember and reflect: journaling about your memories with the lost loved one can be comforting. Reflecting on the positive moments helps keep their memory alive.
πͺFind closure: writing letters to the person youβve lost, even if they canβt be sent, can bring a sense of closure and peace.
β€οΈβπ©Ή Track your healing journey: keeping a grief journal helps you track your healing progress. It shows how your feelings evolve over time and reminds you that it's okay to feel what you feel.
Remember, there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Use writing as a tool to support your healing process. π€π
P.S.: This photo in the post shows "little Dani" (me!), around 2 - 3 years old. And the letter is one of the many my mother wrote to me during the years, which came folded carefully inside Christmas and birthday cards. Absolute treasure! π€π Do you have any letters you keep and cherish? Who are they from?

Navigating life transitions with writing βοΈ
Moving countries was one of the biggest transitions in my life. Leaving behind familiar surroundings and stepping into the unknown was both exciting and daunting. During this time, writing became my anchor. ποΈ
The same way, and even more, writing became a staple in my life when a so awaited move didn't work out as planned. The photo in this post shows me - and my adventure companion , getting ready to come back from Italy. We were in Napoli and crossed Italy, France and England to go back to Wales, where my husband was already waiting for us. A long and "heavy" journey, leaving a dream shattered behind.
During those three days, through my journal, I:
π Processed emotions: writing helped me navigate the whirlwind of emotions: excitement (I was going to meet my husband), fear (travelling alone, with 2 suitcases and a dog!), sadness (leaving my Italian dream behind), and hope (that one day it will happen).
π‘ Found clarity: putting my thoughts on paper gave me clarity, understanding of the moment and helped me make sense of my new reality.
π Built confidence: each entry was a step toward embracing my "new-old" life and building the confidence to thrive in a new environment.
Writing has the power to guide us through life's transitions, providing comfort, clarity, and a sense of control. If you're navigating a big change, grab a journal and let your words lead the way. π
How do you navigate through a big change in your life?

π€ Why journal prompts, you may ask?
π Journaling is a powerful tool for personal growth and self-improvement because it allows us to process our thoughts, emotions, and experiences and understand ourselves better.
I donβt know how I would have gone through some major changes in my life without my journalsβ¦ I would probably be someone a bit different than I am today, if it were not for freeing my feelings, my thoughts and ideas on to pages and pages of journals over the years.
Having a journal gives you the chance to go back inside yourself at any age, and get help and advice from a younger you, to go through the ups and downs life has to offer.
My journals have kept dreams - some realised, some shattered, my crazy ideas, plans, grief, poems for my mother (I never knew Iβd be able to write poems!), letters that were never sent (and will never be).
(P.S. the jar in the photo is mine! Gorgeous, isnβt it? Itβs not included in the freebie, just to let you know. But hey, Iβm sure you can get a beautiful one too, and Iβd love to see yours! If you use it, post it and tag so that I can see it. π

πΈ What would Jesus say to you right now?
This morning as I sat down to do write in my prayer journal, my mind was blank. Iβve been praying through my journal for nearly too months, every morning, apart from a couple of weekends, and I have this 100 inspirational Bible verses that I use, at random. But this morning, it just wasnβt enough.
I needed more.
I needed words being said to me, not the other way around. I was tired of doing the talk. So, as a cheeky daughter, I typed on my browser: βWhat would Jesus say to me right now?β And two links called my attention. One (walkonwaterfl.com) gave me Matthew 11:28-30:
ππ» βCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.β
The other one (donnajones.org) made my heart smile even more⦠The first line, Jesus matching my sense of humour..
π I love you. The real you. Donβt look so surprised: I made you.
π I see you. I know about your hopes, your hurts and your heartaches. Iβm here to help.
π There is grace for you.
π Stop worrying.
π Start trusting.
π When you talk to Me, I listen.
π Get going. Keep going. Get on the right path and stay there. (by the way, Iβm the right path.)
π You are NEVER alone. I am ALWAYS with you. My Spirit is IN you. ποΈ
π The fear you feel isnβt from Me.
π Follow Me: Love how I love. See how I see. Do what I do. Give how I give. Learn what I know. Live how I lived.
π I forgive you. Thatβs why I allowed myself to be crucified.
π The world will never truly satisfy your soul.
π Obey me. Itβs in your best interest and it brings me great honor.
π The people in your life arenβt there by accident. Love them. Deeply. Even the tough ones. Especially the tough ones.
π Be still and know that I am God.
There are few things as good as knowing that we are loved, we are seen, we are heard/listened to. My heart is in peace now and I am grateful for and nourished by His love.
Which of these did you need to hear from Jesus right now? ππ»
