Netball has jumped on the modified sport bandwagon. Coming back to a game you loved couldn't be easier. GIVE IT A GO! KEEP ON MOVING! It is a game for everyone.
Walking Netball caters to all levels of fitness & offers people the chance to get back on the court for a fun, social, active experience. YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD TO JOIN & YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD TO LOVE THE GAME! Walking netball is focused on safety, fun and fitness. Because we want everybody to play this wonderful game for as long as possible, we try to take out the competitiveness. Also, the pace of
the game is slower to reduce injuries. (afterall, we are not as young as we used to be!)
THE RULES-
* NO RUNNING - Fast walking is the way to go
* AN EXTRA STEP CAN BE TAKEN - Thus avoiding sudden stopping so there is less stress on the knees and ankles
* NO JUMPING - One foot must remain on the ground at all times. (it's harder than you realise, especially in the goal circle)
* 1 METRE DISTANCE WHEN DEFENDING
* UP TO 4 SECONDS TO THROW THE BALL
* UNLIMITED ROLLING SUBSTITUTIONS
We meet every Monday at the netball courts at the roundabout on Myall Road Cardiff. We start off at 9:30am with a quick warm up and stretch. The teams are made up on the day so anyone can turn up and play. You can come as often as your availability allows, rather than being locked in to play every week. We play 4 x 6 minute quarters with a 5 minute break in between each quarter. (That is, depending on how long we chat in the breaks. Did I mention it is a relaxed and social event?)
There are no registration fees and Cost is $3 per game. You will see women across a wide range of age, fitness and ability taking part. Some may not have played netball for years and others have never played before. If you think this sounds like something you may like to try, why not give Deb a call on 0421030751 for more info... or you can just turn up. WALKING NETBALL MAY NOT BE FOR YOU, BUT YOU MAY HAVE A FRIEND WHO COULD BE INTERESTED, SO FEEL FREE TO SPREAD THE WORD and like our page. We promise you will not be inundated with messages or notifications.
