First run done in the Clifton 7’s.

Initial thoughts:
My initial worry was that the toe box is a but narrow, I don’t class myself as having particularly wide feet but know that in the past when I’ve worn trainers too long my little toes start to wear through, my gut feel is these will do the same. That said on the run it was fine, loosen the bottom part of the laces and didn’t notice it.

I knew they’d be ‘high’, it’s why I wanted them as knew the cushioning was vast, what surprised me is how high the front of my foot was off the ground!

Running in them was nice, only did a short plod on tired 10k legs but initial reactions very nice, felt very protected, I think this was partly due to the back portion on the heel

I did put a few faster intervals in at the end just to see what they were like under a bit of pace and you could really feel the cushioning then.

Looking forward to getting back out in them! Not looking forward to getting more mud on them 🤣🤣🤣

Not done a Medal Monday for a while and feels good to be doing one now!

Continued the tradition of taking a picture of the children with the medal, it’s getting a bit more of an action shot as they won’t sit still now!

The story of yesterday!
It started with weeks of thinking I’m not ready for this and considering pulling out.
Saturday I woke with a migraine and felt rubbish, my ear was also feeling full, like the start of a ear infection!
I woke up race day feeling ‘MEH’, thinking I shouldn’t really do this, I won’t enjoy (which was really my only objective*) and considered was it dangerous (my way to talk myself out of it!)
I had a shower and thoughts you’ll be ok when you got going!
kindly dropped me off near the bay so had a short walk and she took the kids off to amuse them. Thank you 🥰🥰🥰
Walking to the start was great, nice and fresh and as I got the bay, the old feelings of being back at events was there!

The run it’s self was good, great atmosphere at the start, great to see right on the start line, settled those last minute nerves. The first 2km came quick, amazing to see the see of people and felt really emotional!
Back to the crowds in the bay and literally saw my pace pick up on my watch, it’s amazing what energy they give you.
My aim was to get to 4 miles without walking (as most of my training has been around 4 miles but included some walking).
Just before 4 miles I felt a bit like I had a second wind, my breathing was strange, I describe it as not being able to feel it, sometimes I think it’s that I’m not working hard enough, the heart rate disagrees, but I try not to focus on it!

Sorry that got a very long medal Monday, and it’s continued in the comments, if you got this far can you leave me a comment even if just a single emoji in the comments so I can see if anyone actually read it all! 🤣🤣

Hey there!

I’m looking to update my Jon Evans Coaching website, and in particular the description around my 6 week 5km programme (The Ultimate 5k Training Blueprint) that helps runners get quicker at 5km (and hence longer distances too) by giving them a structured and focused training programme and educates them on a smarter, better way of training.

As long as you can run 5km (it doesn’t matter at what speed) and have an interest in becoming a better or faster runner, let’s connect!

I’m looking to get on a 15-minute call to ask you some market research questions.

Don’t worry, this is NOT a sales call and there will not be an unsolicited pitch at the end. 😅 (i.e. this is not a bait-and-switch tactic.) This is a genuine conversation to help me understand where you struggle so I can create and describe the solution product to help.

Let me know if you’re interested by sending me a message or commenting below and I’ll be in touch. I’m only looking to set up calls with 5 people so if you’re interested let me know ASAP!
