Just heard that the transfer of the Whitchurch Hospital site, from Cardiff & Vale UHB to the Velindre Trust has been completed. This is great news for our bowls club and we now hope that we can move forward in conjunction with our new landlords and secure the future of lawn bowls and other sports in this fantastic venue. Why not come along and have a try at our great game in 2025. Interested? Please get in touch with any of our club members via any of the contact numbers available on this site. We look forward to hearing from you.
10.30 last night a major fireworks display was taking place around and ON the Whitchurch Hospital bowling green with commercial fireworks and at least 50 people attending. When two of our club members went to the green they didnβt receive a great reception, but after speaking to a man who said he was hosting the event! He said "he didnβt realise it was a bowling green"!Fair play, the huge commercial fireworks which were on the green were removed. Our members then left the green, but to illustrate the size of the display, the fireworks were going off for an hour after they left!!
Apparently police arrived towards the end of the display and people left.
We visited the green earlier this morning and have found a lot of firework debris and a number of scorch marks on the green.
Please people, be aware that this is still a very much used bowling green that costs Whitchurch Hospital Bowls Club a large amount of money each year to maintain. It provides a great deal of enjoyment to its membership, now and hopefully in the future. So we ask that you please respect the area and help us educate those who wish to use it for anything other than the purpose for which it is intended. We ask that you work with us in making the Hospital grounds a relaxing space to spend time in. Abuse the area and it will soon become a housing estate!
If you are interested on playing lawn bowls then please get in touch via the details that can be found on this site.
Thanks for your time.
Fantastic night last night at the Earl Haig club with the amazing ACAB- they really are something special! Huge thanks to them and to Mark and his staff for all the work that they put in to make it such a success. To all WHBC members who donated raffle prizes and to those who were there, thanks for your continued support. We must do it again sometime!

If you would like to be part of these amazing clubs then please pop into the Earl Haig club in Whitchurch or see any WHBC member at Cardiff Indoor Bowls club. You will be made most welcome. Hope to speak to you soon.
All, please be on your guard, as it appears that there are thieves operating in the Whitchurch area. Recently, there have been a number of disturbances in and around the Whitchurch Hospital site. Culminating this afternoon when somebody (probably 2/3 persons), broke into the onsite Chapel and stole our John Deere lawnmower. They came prepared and knew what they were after! This is a specialised piece of equipment and is of little use domestically, being more suited to specially prepared greens at golf and bowls clubs. Please share this message; keep a look out and a close ear to the ground and if you hear anything, please get in touch immediately Thanks for your help.
Unhappy about your competitive playing opportunities?WHBC can offer you the opportunity you crave to play competitive bowls on Wednesday's and Saturday's and to make new friends and acquaintances. Come and meet us tomorrow from 4.00pm at the bowling green and have a chat and a go. You won't be disappointed! First season discounts are available. We look forward to meeting you.ππΌ
