With the 2022/23 IMG University season kicking off tomorrow, we would like to take this time in announcing the retirement of ISoc United.
A team who dominated like no other, have reached the end of their cycle and will no longer be representing Cardiff Islamic Society. This marking the end of a four year run, which saw records broken, silverware galore and legacy cemented.
What makes this team so special is rooted in their inception by being the first ever ISoc freshers team. Despite pressure and inexperience, they took the league by storm finishing above the senior team - a feat not accomplished since. And along the way produced the greatest ever ISoc performance through a shock win over IMG great - Glyn Street Elite.
This proved only the start as despite outgoings of key players and characters within the squad, the core remained. New heights were reached and invincibility shortly attained through the addition of new signings and cohesion of the current group, which led to an IMG League title after a two year drought for the club.
But winning once whilst impressive is not special. The hallmarks of greatness are to win over and over, continuing to defy expectations set by the past. And four years later they have certainly done this by creating history in becoming the first team to win the league title three years in a row.
We would like to thank and remember ALL those who played for ISoc United in this time. With particular acknowledgement to Akeel Akky, to whom without this team would not have formed.
Now the baton has been passed, and we pray the success created on and off the pitch is only amplified by all those who now wear the five star adorned crest, Insh’Allah.

IMG Cup 22/23 Winners: ISoc FC X UTD
Just before the start of this years Ramadan, the brothers’ entered into a gruelling one-day tournament.
After managing to get into the final, the all-time ISoc top scorer, Djoudi, made a late appearance.
He made it a match to be remembered, dominating the opposition team and scoring the decisive goal to win the final for them.
Alhamdulillah, this makes it a double for the 22/23 season.
A special shout-out to Yacz for getting into the record books. His 11 goals in a one-day tournament is an all-time high.
The duo won’t be stopped by anyone this upcoming season.

Hall of Fame double entry: Sharif Abdu’Allah & Enes Gündoğdu
Al-Mawardi reported Umar ibn al-Khattab said: “The foundation of a man is his intellect, his honor is in his religion, and the manhood is in his character.”
With this it can come as no surprise as to the latest Hall of Fame entry. Two brothers who have defined their generation, transcended humility in the face of adversity and commanded compete respect from all around them.
They remain the only two captains to win an IMG League title back-to-back and aptly are collective responsible for the first and last star on the badge.
Their individual successes whilst impressive, what truly sets them apart is the legacy they leave through brotherhood, selflessness and good akhlaq.
We wish them the best in their future endeavours.

إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ
The believers are but brothers [49:10]
This past weekend hosted the 2nd edition of the Cardiff ISoc Football Generation’s Tournament. Where those of all-year groups, spanning from brothers in the ISoc’s first-ever title-winning side, to those in the current title-winning team, all reunited for the purpose of unity and brotherhood.
The 5-team tournament was dominated and eventually won by the Class of 2021/22, who remained undefeated throughout and put on a clinic in true Futból heritage. Congratulations to Mo Osman who was joint top scorer and also voted Player of the Tournament.
Much kudos to all other teams who put in exemplary efforts at raising the standard of the tournament. And for representing the Islamic Society so well.
Alhamdulillah for a memorable day and we look forward to inshallah welcoming back old and new faces for a future edition of the tournament.

MashaAllah Tabark'Allah the brothers have gone and done it again! Crowned IMG champions for the 3rd season in a row!
The team, locked in a season-gruelling title race poised by results on the final day, had received early word it’s competing rivals had failed to make ground. Meaning the title was in our hands, poised to be decided by us, and us alone.
And in typical ISOC fashion, we ran riot. Putting 6 past our opponents to claim the title Alhamdulillah.
A special mention also to ISOC FC who were the only team to get the better of the Seniors this calender year. Finishing the highest position ever attained by a freshers team in ISoc history.
However, with this, true success is not the 3 consecutive titles or the 5 championships we have won in the past 7 seasons. But it is the long lasting memories made, friendships forged and brotherhood built.
All of this is down to the blessings of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala whom without we are nothing.

This Sunday saw 6 generations of Cardiff ISoc come together for Junaid’s testimonial.
Alhamdulillah for a successful day, which showed that form is temporary and class is permanent with Legends FC ending as tournament winners. Finishing the competition undefeated and without conceding a goal.
Special mention to Jake who was chosen Player of the Tournament.
It was a beautiful occasion, made sweeter by seeing brothers across different years and many nationalities all unite for the ISoc.

Alhamdulillah ISoc FC X Utd have done it again! We have been crowned IMG Champions for the second season in a row...
After the initial wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in September 2020 the lads were hungry to get back on the pitch to start the new season. Having already been crowned champions the previous season, we were hungrier than ever to create history which is why we managed to finish the first semester undefeated.
Suddenly the second wave hit. The season seemed to be over. Yet by April 2021 we found out that IMG had decided to transform the IMG league into a cup format. The scheduling of the fixtures meant that key players were missing from the squad for many of the games.
The lads were on smoke from start to finish taking no prisoners in all their games. There was an array of talent at our disposal as we managed to field one of our strongest teams ever with players freeing up their calendars for the final. A tense game which on paper should have been a comfortable win for ISOC was brought to a stalemate. The champions of IMG were to be decided on penalties.
وَمَا النَّصْرُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ
"And victory is not but from Allah.”
Holy Quran 8:10
Most teams would get lost in the sweetness of victory and drown themselves in complacency. The members of ISOC Football Club have always carried the responsibility of not just a team, but a religion. Let us now use this small victory to carry on working and striving for excellence in our deen. Only then will we become true victors.
Lastly, we would like to thank Click Claim for their continued support during the pandemic.
