Self defence is a state of mind, and it begins with the belief that you are worth defending. Streets where knife crime and assault is on the increase.

Combat Ju-jitsu has been developed with the streets of today in mind. Streets where people need to know how to defend themselves and how not to become "just another victim". Developed by Kancho Ray Wannacott, who has used Combat Ju-jitsu on a number of occasions "with good effect", it is a tried and tested system that will help you change your life for the better and, hopefully make you feel a lot safer on the streets of today.

THE BLACK BELT: A TESTAMENT TO DISCIPLINE AND DEDICATION

A black belt represents far more than a mere recognition of skill; it signifies an enduring commitment to a profound journey where knowledge and understanding are continuously cultivated.

Achieving a black belt involves years of rigorous physical training, disciplined practice, and critical self-reflection. Knowledge flourishes as practitioners discuss complex techniques, embrace martial arts' philosophical tenets, and master the subtleties that differentiate effectiveness from superficial competence.

As one advances, there is a significant enhancement in listening—both to the verbal instructions of instructors and the nonverbal signals of the body during movement. This mindfulness transcends the dojo's confines, enhancing the practitioner’s ability to perceive nuanced interactions in everyday life. Thus, wearing a black belt is not merely about exhibiting learnt skills but embodying an evolved perspective acquired through dedication, humility, and perpetual growth on this lifelong journey.

Achieving the black belt is but the beginning of a profound journey, one where knowledge flourishes, listening deepens, and moral standards illuminate the way.

Announcement 📣
On Sunday 02-11-2025
Head coach and founder of
CJJWSD&F Sensei Lee Sterio
Received his 4th Dan promotion from Nakmas. (See below)

“ Firstly, I would like to thank,
Nakmas for the support they have given me from day one, and I need a lot (lol).

Kancho Ray for his syllabus and legacy,

All my former instructors, including Sensei’s Mike & Norman for helping fall in love with CJJ, sensei Jeff for his continued knowledge and support, sensei Stuart for his research and passion, all my students, family and friends who have helped me, supported me and put up with me talking about jujitsu constantly ☺️

Reaching 4th Dan, after so many years training, teaching, learning and improving is fantastic for myself,
But it doesn’t make me any better than I was yesterday, improvement in knowledge and skill only come from hard work, time served on the mats and experience gained from teaching and learning, the more time you spend between promotion the better you will be at your chosen martial art.

It will help me keep pushing myself and my students to be a little better each day and help me to take CJJ to new levels.

See you all on mats soon 🥋🥋🥋🥋
Sensei Lee”
