The life of a post natal personal trainer..

We do everything we can to make sure the mums get a workout and the babies are happy… but sometimes they just want their mums

The one thing we always tell new mums is not to worry.

We’re all mums and we all understand babies cry.

We’re there to offer them a safe place to workout without being judged when the baby gets a little grumpy!

🗓️ It’s so true what they say: “The days are long, but the years are short.” I know this because I vividly remember how long the days felt when my children were small – but my oldest has just gone off to university.

🗓️ However, when people say this, the implication is often that we should enjoy every single moment – even the really difficult ones when we are suffering from extreme sleep deprivation.  We hear things like “Oh, they’ll sleep eventually”, or “It won’t last forever” and while these things are true, they are not always very helpful, as they can make us feel like we just have to push on through with a smile on our face and enjoy the time, no matter how exhausted we feel.  These comments can often put us off seeking help and support.

🗓️ That opening statement about the years being short really is true, and we really do want to thrive in and enjoy as many of those parenting moments as possible, but the reality is that no one thrives when they are sleep deprived!  We all NEED SLEEP to be the best version of ourselves, to help our children be the best version of themselves. 

🗓️ You don’t need to just push through and put up with the lack of sleep, and it’s certainly not selfish to want to fix your child’s sleep for your own wellbeing.  Reaching out for support and investing in working on your child’s sleep is 100% worth it – and will help both you and your child to enjoy as many of those precious but fleeting moments as possible.
