International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Today we proudly celebrate the incredible athletes who inspire us every day through their passion, dedication, and resilience.

At Cardiff Met Sport, we are committed to creating inclusive opportunities that empower everyone to participate, compete, and thrive in sport. Working alongside Met Community and Disability Sport Wales, we continue to champion accessible sport and support athletes of all abilities.

💫 Whether on the court, track, field, or in the community, these athletes show what’s possible when barriers are removed and potential is unlocked.

Let’s continue to build a world where sport is for everyone.

Diwrnod Rhyngwladol Pobl ag Anableddau

Heddiw rydym yn dathlu’r athletwyr anhygoel sy’n ein hysbrydoli bob dydd gyda’u hangerdd, eu hymroddiad a’u gwydnwch.

Yn Chwaraeon Met Caerdydd, rydym yn ymrwymo i greu cyfleoedd cynhwysol sy’n grymuso pawb i gymryd rhan, cystadlu a llwyddo mewn chwaraeon. Ar y cyd â Chymuned Met a Chwaraeon Anabledd Cymru, rydym yn parhau i hyrwyddo chwaraeon hygyrch ac i gefnogi athletwyr o bob gallu.

💫 Boed ar y cwrt, ar y trac, ar y cae neu yn y gymuned, mae’r athletwyr hyn yn dangos yr hyn sy’n bosibl pan gaiff rhwystrau eu dileu a phan roddir cyfle i bawb wireddu eu potensial.

Gadewch i ni barhau i adeiladu byd lle mae chwaraeon ar gael i bawb.

Will Bishop, a Sports Coaching student at Cardiff Metropolitan University continues to make history, striking gold and landing a spot on the world stage🏹

The standout para-athlete delivered a phenomenal performance at the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Outdoor Athletics Championships a few weeks ago, defending his Ambulant Long Jump title and bringing home gold. It was announced this week that Will has also been selected to represent Team Great Britain at the World University Games this summer as part of the 3x3 British Wheelchair Basketball squad.

At the BUCS Sport Outdoor Championships, Will secured a silver medal in the Ambulant Shot Put, while finishing 5th in the 200m and 7th in the 100m. His solo medal haul earned so many points that if he were a university, he would have finished 7th in the Men’s team standings🤯

A familiar face on the international stage, Will was a key player for Wales Wheelchair Basketball at the Commonwealth Games qualifying tournament in 2022 and has represented Wales multiple times as a junior, including at the School Games.

Cardiff Met is immensely proud of Will’s dual-sport success and looks forward to following his journey to the world stage👏

This week we visited Ysgol Mynydd Bychan to show teachers how to include boccia in their PE lessons and sports days to make them more inclusive for all pupils.

We received a very warm welcome and everyone enjoyed learning some fun boccia games in the sunshine.

———————————

Yr wythnos hon, ymwelsom ag Ysgol Mynydd Bychan i ddangos i athrawon sut i gynnwys boccia yn eu gwersi Addysg Gorfforol a’u diwrnodau chwaraeon i’w gwneud yn fwy cynhwysol i bob disgybl.

Cawsom groeso cynnes iawn a mwynhaodd pawb ddysgu rhai gemau boccia hwyliog yn yr heulwen.
