Due to demand for HSE medicals, we set a weekend for Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th (Sun) September 2026 which are now fully booked.
We are therefore opening up bookings for Friday 12th as well.
If you are a Rescue Diver, Divemaster or Instructor and require your HSE Medical, whether it is a first time or a renewal or a Fitness to Dive Certificate, please get in touch to reserve a space.
Divers are welcome across all agencies.
The medicals will be hosted by Cardiff Scuba with our HSE Approved HSE Examiner - Dr Oli Firth.

Testing the water(!) for interest for a liveaboard to the Galapagos Islands in 2027.

Dates & costs have still to be discussed but I am just looking for expressions of interest at this early stage of planning.

Saturday 13th we have 3 spaces available - 1.15pm / 3.45pm / 4.30pm.

e are holding our annual weekend of HSE medicals with Dr Firth in Cardiff on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th September 2025
We now have only a couple of spaces available.
These medicals are suited to all Instructor, Divemaster and Rescue Level Divers as per HSE requirements.
Fitness to dive meets the requirements that many countries now require to allow you to dive.
All HSE medical certificates are valid for one year unless personal circumstances change during that period.
Payment is made to Dr Firth on the day.

As we celebrate the end of another year, with family and friends, we also remember those no longer with us and should have special thoughts for all those who feel isolated and alone and struggle in body and/or mind.
We cannot know everyone in this situation but to those around us - know that you have true friends who will support you without conditions - be there at any time irrespective of distance or cost and never judge or belittle your battle.
Stay strong and allow those you trust to walk the journey with you.
Special thoughts for special people.

Another great end to a really successful Scuba Divers International - SDI - Open Water weekend.
The students pulled everything together, especially the two youngest who amazed all of us with their buoyancy control, breathing control, use of signals, use of computers, buddy awareness and last but not least their free ascents with visual reference where they stopped at 5 metres and didn't move an inch while holding their safety stop. Totally amazing achievement.
Thank you to everyone, other students and our ever reliable support Instructors and Rescue divers.
You might have guessed by now that I am kinda buzzing from 2 great days with a great team.
The weekend belongs to the kids and their dads - so here they are with parental permission to publish.

So, we warmly welcome another 4 Scuba Divers International Open Water candidates who successfully and confidently excelled in their overall application of the required skills achievement.
They can now proudly enjoy the reward of practicing their skills around the world under the SDI banner.
Conditions were challenging at times, visibility was - let's say - variable, but this did not deter the positive attitude and willingness of these four to smash it time and time again.
Congratulations to everyone for a job really well done.

Excellent dive on the Aurania, followd by a very pleasant wall dive this afternoon at Bo Faskadale.
Then the God's blessed us with another amazing calm sea. Then a whale crossed our bow in the distance.
