Last night was a night of celebration but somewhat bittersweet as we say goodbye to Gethyn for a year. Geth has been a well-loved member of our community for a long time and we’re going to miss him terribly, but we wish him all the best in Norway!🇳🇴

So, time for an announcement that has been a long time in the making.

It is as of today that we bid a fond farewell to our friends at Virtus Sword School.

We have decided amongst ourselves that it is best for us as a club to go our own separate ways and forge our own path ahead for the future. We wish all the best to Jake and the rest of Virtus and look forward to having a constructive, mutually supportive relationship in the years to come.

With that said, it is with great excitement that Jo, Dan, Richard, myself and our other committee members (the Elf of Safety Rhys, our WO Ollie and our former instructors Rob and Matt) would like to welcome you to the first days of our new club, Edel Fencing Academy.

Here's to the future, I hope to see you all join us in the adventures to come.

A great start to our beginners course tonight - congrats to our new starters for their hard work 😊⚔️

And a reminder to our regular folk - feel free to drop in to any (or all) of the beginners sessions if you want to brush up on anything or get some extra practice!

We love being a part of our local(ish) tournament scene and we’re very keen to see it improve and grow. What better way than to help our own fencers also become good judges and tournament staff?

Tonight’s class saw everyone cycle through different roles on the piste to experience tournament situations from different points of view and hone their skills.

Game of Thrones might be over (however you felt about that) but there’s plenty more fun to be had with swords when you do it yourself. The 8 week course is an introduction to Meyer’s longsword, suitable for all abilities and open to anyone aged 18+.

All equipment is provided; £60 (payable as £30 per four week block).
