Geraint Thomas never looked for the limelight. A loyal domestique for most of his career, the Welshman often rode in the service of others, pulling into the wind at Grand Tours and collecting bottles for his team-mates. When opportunities arose for him to lead, though, he made sure to take them.
On Sunday, Thomas called time on a 19-year career as one of the greats of British cycling. Across those two decades, he won 25 times on the road – most notably the Tour de France in 2018 – and enjoyed success on the track, too.
We ranked five of his most significant victories, according to our own nostalgic taste. (We probably all agree on number one, though, right?)
