Update; Yonex ES5 Pro renovation:
After a liberal amount of lubrication, use of a heat gun and some gentle tapping with a hammer I managed to separate the clamp from the pillar. Should be relatively straightforward to clean up the pillar and get it into serviceable condition. Not so sure about the clamps but will try a few hacks.

Clamp base number 2 currently marinating in some penetrating oil and separation to follow all being well.

A short interlude - we are closed Thursday 28th May to Monday 1st June.

We’re hiring a p/time Retail Assistant to help in our specialist racket sports store in Penrith.

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about tennis, or badminton, or other racket sports like padel, pickleball or squash.

This is a part time role initially but has the potential to become full-time or job share with another part-time position.

What we are looking for is the following: -

- someone who can help enhance the customers experience; players, coaches and visitors
- help maintain store presentation, pricing and stock management
- help support customers and develop good relationships with the local racket sports community
- develop racket stringing skills and expertise

This is a salaried role and references will be required for the successful applicant.

ERSA STRINGING TRAINING

ERSA UK are running further stringing training courses in the north of England between now and the end of the year.

If you’re a stringer who is looking to gain a formal qualification, or a improve your skills, or if your new to stringing and want to learn from skilled and experienced stringers, in person, rather than watching amateur, online videos, then these courses are for you.

Based at store in Penrith, Cumbria, the training venue is easily accessible by train or car, just a couple of minutes off J40 of the M6 motorway.

Club Rackets (Penrith) hosted ERSA UK for 2 days over the 29 & 30 March for the first Northern Stringing Workshop.

Eager stringers - from novice to new and experienced - attended the Penrith store and spent a day and a half learning and improving their stringing skills culminating in 4 stringers taking their certification - 2 for Professional Stringer (Badminton) and 2 for Master Professional Stringer (Badminton).

The tennis module was delivered by ERSA UK Manager and the badminton module by own Ken Williams ERSA UK’s northern trainer.

ERSA UK would like to express its thanks to for supplying strings for the Workshop and to other members of the ERSA team in the UK and Europe for their support. And to for its ongoing support.

First Northern workshop in the can for the ERSA UK team and we will soon be releasing a calendar of dates for future workshops in the North and South of the UK.

Brilliant to have so many Chatsworth Tennis Club members visiting the new shop in Penrith. When it was “Border Rackets” the shop had a loyal following from members and visitors.

Today we had half a dozen Chatsworthians call in and it was great to catch up and hear what’s occurring further North. Chatsworth was “home” to the racket shop for nearly 5 years and I’ll always have a soft spot for it and its members, coaches, and staff.

It was great to be part of a busy, bustling tennis centre and I’m sure we’ll carry on working together, supporting the club, its members, its management and the great work this centre of tennis performance brings to the sporting community in Cumbria

And with exciting expansion plans for the future including more outdoor courts, and covered Padel courts the future looks bright. Club Rackets looks forward to continuing to support Chatsworth Tennis into the future.
