Our friends at Clydesdale Colts have an exciting event coming up in a few weeks. They are great supporters of CCA so it would be nice to see a few of our riders heading North to return the favour - and it sounds like lots of fun in a really interesting venue.

The final round of the Scottish Youth Circuit Series takes place at IGNITE held at the Scottish Fire and Rescue HQ on Saturday 5th September. There's also a senior race as well for the first time.

Thanks to everyone who attended our U10/U8 coaching session today. We had quite a range of ages and abilities but everyone did very well. We hope you had fun.
A few key learning points...
Road bike riders - practice riding in the drops and on the hoods and try to get out of the habit of leaving your hands on the tops. Your bike is more stable, you are in a more aerodynamic position and you have easier access to your brakes and gears. It takes a bit of practice to feel comfortable in the drops but stick at it!
Remember to pick a good line into corners. Start wide, aim for the apex and leave the bend wide.
And use those 👀 and 👂👂! Where your 👀 go, your 🚲 goes! Be aware of riders around you at all times. (We were impressed by considerate our older riders were to the youngest ones in the last exercise by the way - well done all!)

We are looking forward to welcoming some of our regular U8 and U10 racers plus some new faces to the Circuit for a coaching session tomorrow afternoon. There are just TWO places left if anyone still wants to join us. The weather forecast is quite good but please bring waterproofs and an extra layer just in case. Don't forget a drink and a snack and of course your helmet!
Parents, please be at the green cabin to sign on by 14.20 if possible so that we can start the session promptly at 14.30. Consent forms have been emailed out so please check your inboxes.

Events British Cycling

Just a week to go until our Youth D/E specific afternoon of coaching at the Circuit. We already have a great number of young riders signed up but there is space for a few more. Thursday 6th August 14.30-16.00, cost £5 per child, booking via the British Cycling Events page. Road bikes preferred but children on bikes with flat bars should still enjoy the session.

Fancy something different? Grasstrack was a common form of track cycling all over the UK before velodromes became more easily accessible and a lot of great cyclists started their careers on grass. Sadly there are not many events left now, mainly in the East of England and at Scottish Highland Games, but we have Ambleside! If you're a competent track cyclist and you can fit some knobbly tyres between your forks, get yourselves entered. A warm welcome is guaranteed and it's always a grand day out!

We may have finished our race season but we will continue to share news of events which we think may be of interest to our regular riders. If you're at a loose end a week on Sunday why not join our North East friends - should be a good day out!
