Following on from a really successful 2026 Borders 8's we would like to make a few much needed thank you's.

Firstly to all the teams who turned up for the event. Silver City Lacrosse, Ashton Lacrosse Club, Brooklands Hulmeians Lacrosse Club, Edinburgh City Lacrosse, Leeds Lacrosse Club, Newcastle Knights Lacrosse, Newcastle University Men's Lacrosse and Tallam Rangers made up of players from Sheffield Hallam. We appreciate your support a great deal guys and hope to see you next year.

Then to our refs who did an amazing job and frankly we don't have a tournament without them. Craig Stephens, Mick Teal, David Polya, Nick Donovan and Ben Wilkinson. And our Scorers and timekeepers Martin Ewin and Lisa Turner.

Then to the lovely team who look after food and bar during the event. Debbie Templeton Jadron (who does a massive amount of catering), Rosemary Templeton Jadron, Lorraine Bland, Ciara Bland, Joanne Greenshields, Sara Lowden and Karen Crawford (baked those wonderful treats) and Ian and Emma Greenshields for doing photography (pictures to follow).

Mark Turner who helps set up and lends us shelters every year with help from Luca Turner and Paul Troughton who helped deal with rubbish, tidying and locking up.

Richard Stamp, President of Irthing Vale CC for presentation and providing a bottle for the winners and Nadeem Pervaz, Captain of the cricket who delivered some wonderful Punjabi food late on Saturday for those in need of a late night feed.

To Billy, Ruth and Billy Kirkup of Kirkup Butchers in Longtown - https://www.facebook.com/KirkupsButchers who sorted out our meat, b**r supply and gazebos, including bringing them back and forth. They help us every year and during the season and are an amazing community minded family.

My lovely wife Karen for supporting me every year and generally being a good sport when in the lead up to the event!

And then to all the Borders Lads (including the Knights lads), but with special mention to Ross Irving, Marian Templeton Jadron, Joel Castley, Graham Bland, Josh Crawford and Gaz O'Hare Greenshields who all gave a lot of time ahead of the event.

And to everyone who came and supported on the day and made it an amazing vibe. Finally anyone who had anything to do with this or previous events who I haven't mentioned due to tiredness! Thank you all.

Dan - Club Chair

Looks like we will be back on September 11th 2027 - Get your expressions of interest in early as we will never be a huge event.

Great to see a Club so much a part of Lacrosse history still represented at our tournament Lacrosse . Also a lot of good friends of Borders on the winning side.

The 8’s has become a big lacrosse family and it’s amazing to see so many friends in one place. Well done everyone, closest year yet!

A week tomorrow, ten teams converge at Cotehill Park, Brampton, Cumbria CA8 1BP for the 6th annual Border 8's tournament. Who will take home the trophy this year, with holders Edinburgh looking to make it title 4 and Aberdeen, Ashton/Wacs, Borders, Brooklands Hulmeians Lacrosse Club, Leeds, Newcastle Knights Lacrosse, Newcastle University Men's Lacrosse, Tallam Rangers (Sheffield based Uni team) and Wilmslow Lacrosse Club, all looking to lift the trophy.

The matches start at 11am with the bar open all day until late and food available... Spectators welcome, individual registered players welcome (we will find you a team), free camping and a day you will absolutely love.

A bit like Bath, we have a load of Roman stuff near us, in fact if you want a bit of culture, a certain wall is only 15 minutes away, we have a historic city and castle and the lakes on our doorstep so make a weekend of it.

Its great to see some good Northern and Scottish Support, the Southern teams don't seem to travel as well and if you're a North team doing Bath but not Borders, then you're missing out on a fantastic weekend in your own region (the punk rock of lacrosse tournaments). See you all on the 12th.

Men’s training tonight at 7pm!! All welcome.

Busy morning! Dan,Graham,Joel, Ross, Josh and Majko (with Rosemary and Theo lending a hand) down the Club doing essential pre 8’s and pre season work.
First up the monumental task of insulating the loft with the insulation kindly donated by The Rebuild Site CIC. Literally hand sawing every piece to fit was some workout. Joel and Josh were up in the hottest part fitting it all and we’re sure it will make a massive difference this winter.
Then Majko has been busy building in a permanent bar ahead of the 8’s snd the season. We’re fully licensed for the tournament and working on our club licence so we can provide refreshments to visiting lacrosse and cricket teams.
See you all in two weeks time, individual players who want to come, play, stay, but don’t have a Club that recognises the benefits of supporting the Northern domestic competitions, contact us, we have options! It will be a great weekend.
