Llanpumsaint and Nebo Short Mat Bowls Club

The 2025-26 season has come to an end with the annual club competitions and a fun social evening. This year's winners were - 4 Wood singles Theresa, 2 Wood singles Andrew, 2 Wood pairs Derick and Huw Williams. The Member of the year shield, as voted for by the members, was presented to a very surprised Huw Edwards. We now look forward to the County presentation dinner and Club dinner in May to finish off the season.

At an emergency Carmarthenshire County Bowls meeting last week it was decided that there will be 2 divisions for the 2025-26 season. This means that we remain in Division 1. Our first league match will be home on Thursday 11th September against Salem. Our AGM will be held on Monday, 1st September at 7.30 pm. If time allows we will have a quick practice session too. See you all there.

This year's winners were - 4 Wood singles Rhys, 2 Wood singles Dylan , 2 Wood pairs Kieran and Catrin and super sub Rhys who stepped in to play one game as Catrin was injured. The Member of the year shield, as voted for by the members, was presented to Huw Williams. We now look forward to the Club dinner and the County presentation dinner in May.

The club would like to wish Catrin Williams and Jill Edwards the best of luck representing Wales at the Ladies British Isles Championships in Carmarthen this weekend.

Not what we were hoping for last night a 3-7 loss against Llanboidy B. The games were so close and could all have gone either way. There was only 4 shots in it at the end of the evening. We will have practice next week for the next match which will be home to Salem on Thursday 10th October. See you all Monday

A tough night away in Pontargothi tonight. Being only 8 players due to a late illness, Dylan and Derick were pulled out of the hat to play twice.
In the Singles Kieran narrowly lost 10-8 after being 8-0 down and making a great comeback. The pairs also lost a tight game 7-4.
In the triples Gareth, Derick and Huw W, lead for the majority of the game with Pontargothi making a comeback and picking up 11 shots in the final 3 ends. The final score 14-7 to Pontargothi. The rinks then lost a tough game 12-1.
A pleasure to see the way the team played and the opposing captain also remarked on how well Llanpumsaint played as a whole.

Great start to the season last night with a 10-0 win over fellow division 2 promotion team Llangyndeyrn. It was great to welcome Dylan Jones back to the team after a break for a couple of years. He must have been practicing somewhere during that time with all the touchers he had. 😉
Well done to the Rinks for keeping a clean sheet of 18-0. Next week is our first away match against last year's division 1 champions Pontargothi.
