1 Week To Go!

Our February Fat Loss Blitz kicks off in a week's time, which means there's still time for you to jump on board and work with a Nutritionist and a Personal Trainer for a whole month.

You'll get a personalised nutritional profile from the excellent Jo over at Simple, Flexible Nutrition alongside weekly online nutrition seminars to guide you through what, why and how you can eat for your goals.

I'll be sorting you out with a custom and tailored training programme that you can use at home, in the gym, or a mix of both. No more guess work when it comes to exercise, and no more endless hours on the treadmill.

You'll also get the option of a one to one training session with me in the gym if you are local, or a private video consultation if you are a little further afield to go through every aspect of your training and how it can be improved.

You'll also get a host of bonus resources to make the most of the challenge including recipe packs, calorie guides, eating out guides, and much more.

A whole month of guidance, support and accountability from a Nutritionist and a Personal Trainer to help you make February the month you finally take control of your health and fitness.

SW FIT SPORTS MASSAGE 💆‍♂️

As many of you already know, over the past year I’ve been working on my Level 3 Sports Massage qualification, and over the past couple of months I’ve been welcoming clients into the clinic.

Sports massage isn’t just for sports people and can be just as beneficial to those suffering from everyday aches and pains, those stuck working over their laptop on their dining table or home office, people suffering from poor or limited mobility or just if you feel like you need a bit of a “once-over” and loosen up.

Sports massage is deeper and more targeted than a regular holistic massage, making use of deeper and more specific pressure to target and loosen areas of concern.

Treatments are open to both members and non-members of the Vale, and take place in a private treatment room in the Spa.

If you want to know more about how a sports massage could help you, or to book a treatment, feel free to drop me a message and I’ll be happy to help!

Gained Weight.

Lost weight.

Gained Weight.

Meh.

Anyone else got some return to real life nerves? Getting back out and about, back to the gym, back to socialising and seeing friends, and worrying that your clothes just don’t quite fit as well anymore.

“Oh, enjoyed a cake or two in lockdown have you?” Yes. Yes I have thank you very much. And they were extremely tasty too. And I ate the whole cake myself. In record time. While watching Bake Off.

It’s been a topsy turvy year, the gyms have been closed more than they’ve been open, and frankly “going for a walk” has slightly lost it’s allure.

And that’s ok.

It’s a global PANDEMIC that literally none of us have ever been through before. There was no handbook. No memo on how to deal with it. No cheat sheet on how to stay sane.

Some of us learnt four new languages, how to crochet a bed
throw, started a new business and home-schooled the kids.

Some of us held on for dear life, worked from home without
embarrassing ourselves on a Zoom conference call while sat in our dressing gown, forgot the meaning of social interaction, and meant well when they downloaded a meditation app but never actually used it.

Whatever which way the last few months have been, you can hold your head up high. You’ve made it.

Put a bit of weight on. That’s ok.

Stopped exercising. That’s ok.

Punched the person in Tesco who’s mask is UNDER HIS NOSE(!). That’s ok.

As we start to get back to normal, take a deep breath, you’ve got this, we’re all feeling a bit nervous about real life, if we’ve done enough, too much, or not enough.

Start small. You don’t need to run a marathon tomorrow, or squat 200kg, or compete in the Crossfit Games. Just start doing something. Get yourself a simple plan to follow in the gym, pester a friend to go jogging with you once or twice a week, chuck Joe Wicks’ Youtube channel back on your TV.

The more you do, the better you’ll feel, the more you’ll do.

You can’t outsource press-ups.

Someone’s going to prepare and deliver my food each day to the exact calories and macro-splits that my nutritionist has outlined.

My PT is going to write out my training programme exercise by exercise, session by session.

My Whoop band is going to monitor my daily activity, steps, rest, and recovery, and adjust my sleeping pattern for optimum Zzzzz’s.

My sports massage therapist is going to work on all the knots and muscular tightness that is preventing me touching my toes.

My psychotherapist is going to keep me free of worry and doubt, while my online meditation coach is going to ensure I’m in the best headspace to achieve peak clarity of thought.

Now if I could just hire someone to do all the bits all of my experts are prescribing I’d be in a great shape, super successful, and have way more time to do what I want to do.

I’ve been reading a lot of business books during lockdown, learning how companies are made and built, and how the people that make them and build them do what they do.

Outsourcing has come up a lot.

Don’t have time to take your sales calls? Outsource it.

Don’t have time to make your social media posts? Outsource it.

Don’t have time to ship your product? Outsource it.

Get someone else to do all the things you’re not good at, don’t understand, or just don’t like, so that you can concentrate on the stuff you do like.

Like playing golf or taking an early finish on a Friday.

The problem with all this outsourcing is that you are in danger of becoming so far removed from the process, from the game, from the details, that you actually have no idea what is or isn’t working, or why, and how to maintain the process over time.

You can’t outsource the press-ups.

Your trainer isn’t going to show up to the gym and do your workout for you while you sip a coffee, eat your calorie specific meals or do your daily yoga and meditation so you can touch your toes.

You have to do the press-ups.

You have to do some of the heavy lifting yourself. You have to understand the process and why you’re doing it. You have to think for yourself too.

Get an expert. A mentor. A guiding light to keep you moving in the direction you want. But be present, be involved, be interested. Work on one thing at a time, one expert at a time.

And do the press-ups.

Ah quotes.

I love a good quote.

How can a line or two of writing sum up your entire thoughts and feelings so succinctly? Motivate you? Enthuse you? Move you?

A couple of sentences so eloquent that you can’t help be stopped by them and think, yes, you’re right.

Yet, the problem with quotes is that they very rarely take any action. They just sit there, on the paper, and do nothing.

I wish I was thinner, I wish I was stronger, I wish I was leaner, I wish I could run faster, swim further, row harder.

Nothing gets done if we don’t do.

I’ve parked plenty of dreams for fear of getting it wrong, failing, other people questioning or worse, making fun of me.

Time and again I’ve learnt that if I had just done, instead of just thought, it wouldn’t matter anyway, because I would have achieved or learnt.

Nothing gets done if we don’t do.
