Do you know how much exercise a child need’s per day?

It’s 60 minutes a day for at least 3 days per week. Now answer this question, does your child meet this guideline during school time?

Aerobic activity should make up most of your child's 60 or more minutes of physical activity each day. This can include either moderate-intensity aerobic activity, such as brisk walking, or vigorous-intensity activity, such as running, various sports and CrossFit. Here at Dragon Athletic we combine all of that with fun, as we understand that if a child isn’t having fun they won’t ever be engaged in the activity.

It’s time to get in touch, all age groups from 5 yrs to 16yrs are taught in a safe and stimulating environment by fully qualified and DBS cleared coaches.

Are you worried about your teen’s lack of interest in sports? Do you feel your teen is not as active as you would like him to be? Well, worry not. This is an issue most parents face today.
Initiating your teen into sports is a major challenge these days. With distractions like gaming consoles and other online activities, your teen may be giving real outdoor action a miss. If you feel this is true for your teen too, read on to find out how you can help him step outdoors and enjoy playing a sport!
What Are The Benefits Of Playing A Sport For Teens?
Playing sports helps in staying fit. But this is not the only benefit your teen will have if they engages in sports. Here is a quick look at how playing sports can benefit your teen:

1. Social Development:
Playing sports will first and foremost help your teen grow socially. As your teen spends more time with his peers, they will learn to come out of their shell and interact better. Your teen may be shy or self-conscious but as they meets other sports enthusiasts they will gain self-confidence.

2. Leadership Qualities:
Sports are an excellent exercise to build team spirit and leadership skills. They will learn how to coordinate and cooperate with other team members. They will also learn to keep the interest of the entire team on top priority instead of thinking about individual performance only.

3. Long Lasting Friendships:
Many adults will vouch for not only striking goals but also friendship on the playground! Your teen will form some of his closest bonds during these growing up years, right on the playground. As your teen shares his or her fears and secrets with these youngsters, they are sure to form some very strong bonds that may last a lifetime.

4. Coach As A Role Model:
Most trainers and coaches act as role models for teens. Your teen may not listen to you, but chances are, he will not say no to his coach. Your teen’s coach will mentor him and teach him about the importance of discipline in life.

5. Stamina:
As your teen trains to play sports, he will slowly and steadily build his stamina. Sports will help your teen stay healthy by being physically active. Your teen will soon start enjoying these workout sessions. Real sports are also a great way to increase your teen’s mental health and strength.

6. Time Management:
When your teen gets involved in sports, they will also start managing time better. Your teen will try to strike a balance between studies and sports, and this will mean they will start following a routine and utilizing time productively. In addition to this, they will also develop a competitive spirit.

The family that works out together ... stays together

FACT!
One-third of all children born in 2000 or later will suffer from diabetes at some point in their lives. Other concerns include heart disease, asthma and other largely-preventable weight-related ailments.
While more than one-third of U.S. adults (34.9 percent) are obese, childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years, according to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. The percentage of children aged 6 to 11 years old in the United States who were obese increased from 7 percent in 1980 to almost 18 percent in 2012, according to the CDC.
The percentage of adolescents aged 12 to 19 years old who were obese increased from 5 percent to nearly 21 percent over the same period.
In 2012, more than one-third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese.
In CrossFit we work out together so that we can pass on these good habits to our children at an early age, they need to be inspired by the right people doing the right things!
All parents want their children to have a great life, they also want to prepare them for an adult life in the best way possible. Here in CrossFit we can add to the array of strategies and tools learnt to cope with the pressures of an adult life, through social interaction, teamwork, communication and empowerment.
By being together in the same environment familes can train and provide encouragement to one another and motivation to do their best, even though they work out in separate groups (age specific).

Why CrossFit Kids Help Foster New Friendships!

There are many reasons why CrossFit Kids at Dragon Crossfit provides a good icebreaker for new friendships.

Firstly, all the children are all working together and playing by the same set of rules. They need to learn to trust each other and as they get to know one another they can play off each other's strengths.
Also, sporting activities such as CrossFit Kids will be attractive to a variety of children, and they will all share a common point of interest. They don't need to worry about making small talk in order to bond because the play they are involved in will help them do that. As a result, they will have more to talk about after the games and workouts.
But make no mistake, CrossFit Kids also helps children to get along socially. If they are someone that struggles with social grace, CrossFit Kids can teach them to interact with other children, listening, and letting someone else have center stage. CrossFit children will learn to take the spotlight without arrogance when they win like a champ, and handle losses with humility.

As participants and teammates play, they will understand the benefits of giving other children the chance to shine. All of this is invaluable when it comes to making friends. Being involved in CrossFit Kids is also a great way for kids to keep in shape too!
So don't delay in arranging a free taster session for your child at Dragon Crossfit.
