🥋 BJA MEMBERSHIP REMINDER 🥋

A quick reminder to all DNA Judo members & parents to please check that your British Judo membership is active and up to date for the new judo season.

All DNA Judo members are required to hold a valid British Judo membership after completing their first 5 sessions.

⭐ DNA Judo is a British Judo Elite Provider, which means our members can benefit from a discounted membership rate.

When joining or renewing, please make sure you select the “Elite Full” membership option to access the discounted rate available to DNA Judo members.

British Judo membership provides your insurance cover and allows you to grade, compete and have your progression officially recognised.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents; if you have more than one child training with us, please remember to check each child’s membership individually.

If your membership has expired, please renew it as soon as possible.

If you’re new to DNA Judo and still within your first 5 sessions, don’t worry; we’ll provide you with everything you need to get registered.

📣 FULL TIMETABLE RETURNS MONDAY! 🥋

We’ve had a few messages asking when Judo is back to our normal timetable, so just a quick update for everyone!

Our FULL Craven Judo Academy timetable returns from Monday 7th September 🙌

Thank you for bearing with us over the summer timetable. We’re looking forward to getting everyone back into their regular sessions and kicking off the new academic year! 💪🥋

🏆 THE STAGE IS SET!

Tomorrow we welcome clubs from across the country to the DNA Judo Great North Open 2026, and we can’t wait to see everyone on the tatami.

A few reminders before you travel:

🎟️ Spectators: £3 per adult.
🥋 Competitors & Coaches: FREE admission.

☕ Café Available
Our café outside the sports hall will be serving:
🥓 Bacon & sausage butties
🌭 Hot dogs
🥤 Hot & cold drinks
🍫 Snacks

🚫 Please note: No food is to be consumed inside the sports hall.

The Great North Open is a grassroots event, and for many competitors this will be their very first experience of stepping onto a competition mat.

Please show respect to our athletes, coaches, referees, table officials and volunteers throughout the day. Every official is giving their time to help create a fantastic experience for everyone involved.

If you have any questions or concerns during the event, please come and speak to Danny at Control. We’ll always do our best to find a fair and positive solution while keeping the focus where it belongs; on creating an enjoyable experience for every competitor.

All entrant anomalies have now been contacted to discuss their available options, and we can now confirm our official weigh-in times for this Sunday’s DNA Judo Great North Open Championships.

📅 Sunday 28th June 2026

⏰ Weigh-In Times
• 9:00am; U12s
• 9:45am; U16s
• 10:15am; Seniors & Veterans

Please arrive promptly for your allocated weigh-in. Keeping to these times is imperative in helping our event run smoothly and ensuring everyone gets on the mat as quickly as possible.

⚖️ Public Weigh-In
All competitors should weigh in wearing judo trousers and a T-shirt.

🥋 Kano Kids Update for Tonight 🥋

Just a quick note for all Craven Judo Academy Kano Kids members and parents.

Due to Evie travelling back from another coaching session in Preston, tonight’s Kano Kids class will run from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.

The final 30 minutes of the session will run alongside our Junior Judo class, giving our Kano Kids an opportunity to train as part of the wider academy environment.
