Slate maintenance.…..
I have been asked recently about maintaining the slate I etch.
Slate is natural product and will dry out over a few weeks.
If you want to have a darker coloured slate and remove any cup marks or stains give it a light rub with an oil such as wd40, baby oil or a cooking oil.
This will clean the slate and darken it’s colour, it will eventually dry out and will require another coat to keep that dark lustre.
However some people do prefer the dry natural grey slate colour.
The choice is yours.
