Our Under 16 Boys return to Marius McHugh Memorial Park tomorrow morning as they welcome Coalisland for their latest league fixture!

The lads will be hungrier than ever to get back out on the pitch and bounce back after last Saturday’s heartbreak, where a strong performance slipped away in the dying seconds. The lads know they have the quality to go toe-to-toe with anyone and are fully focused on claiming the full points this time around.

Having a strong home support makes all the difference, so lets get out tomorrow and get behind the boys!! 🔴⚫️

As our club continues to grow, we’re working hard to deliver key facility improvements at our grounds, including upgrading our pitch and walkway lighting and investing in new gym equipment.

These developments aren't just for our players and members, upgraded lighting will make our walkway safer and more welcoming for every member of the local community who uses our facility on dark autumn and winter evenings! 🏃‍♂️🚶‍♀️

To help drive our fundraising efforts, we are reaching out to our fantastic local business community. Would your business be willing to donate a voucher(s) to the value of £50 (e.g. 5 x £10 or 10 x £5) to support our drive? 💝

If you’d like to support us or find out more, please drop us a direct message here on Facebook or contact any committee member before 12pm this coming Sunday.

Thank you for your continued support of our club and community. Together, we hope to keep Castlederg moving forward! 🙌

🔴⚫ 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: Heartbreak in Clonoe as late surge denies U16 Boys 🔴⚫

Our Under 16 Boys made the long journey to Clonoe on Saturday morning and came within a whisker of taking the points, before a late Clonoe rally, played with the wind at their backs, snatched a one-point win. 😕

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟:

Playing with the aid of a strong wind in the opening half, Castlederg made the perfect start when they found the net inside the opening minute to establish an early three-point advantage. 🎯

The Red and Black continued to create opportunities, but the failure to convert those chances would ultimately prove costly. A number of efforts drifted wide, while another fell short and one effort slipped past the Clonoe keeper only to come back off the post. 😬

Despite the missed opportunities, Castlederg remained in control for long periods. 💪

Clonoe kept themselves in touch through a pair of early frees and by the midpoint of the half the scoreboard showed Clonoe 0-03 (3) Castlederg 1-02 (5). 👌

Clonoe fired over another free to reduce the gap to a single point, but a moment of quality in the 21st minute, saw a long-range free from outside the 40 metre arc fly over the bar for a superb 2-pointer, extending the Derg’s advantage back to three. 🫶

Clonoe immediately replied with a point from their kick-out, but the Derg finished the half in dominant fashion, reeling off four unanswered points from play to stretch the gap. 🔥

Our keeper was called into action in the dying seconds, pulling off a save to deny a goal-bound Clonoe shot, helping preserve the six points cushion at the break, but the lads would’ve been disappointed that their first half chances hadn’t yielded an even greater advantage.

𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞: Clonoe 0-05 (5) Castlederg 1-8 (11)

𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟:

With the wind now favouring Clonoe, the second half promised to test the Castlederg defence.

For the first fifteen minutes of the restart, the Red and Black managed the game superbly. The defence stood resolute, with our keeper pulling off another fine early save to protect the lead while the backline marshalled Clonoe’s forward line effectively, limiting them to a single point. 🚫

Then came the turning point that reshaped the entire morning.

With the Derg still holding the advantage and it looking like a Clonoe forward would be pulled up for over-carrying, the ref instead awarded a penalty to the home side. The resulting kick was successfully converted, bringing the home side right back into contention with the score sitting at Clonoe 1-06 (9) Castlederg 1-08 (11). 🫣

Castlederg responded with a point and continued to create chances, but once again a number of opportunities went begging, including another effort that thumped back off the post along with a few more wides. 😤

With the wind behind them, Clonoe pressed forward in the closing stages and Castlederg found themselves under sustained pressure. It became backs-to-the-wall football for the Red and Black as the defence battled desperately to protect their lead. ⚔️

With the clock showing just a minute remaining of normal time, the gap was still three points in the Derg’s favour. However the pressure eventually told, as Clonoe scored a point from play in the 30th minute and followed it up less than a minute later with a long-range 2-pointer from play to level the match. 😱

With seconds remaining, Clonoe managed one final attack to notch the winning point in the 32nd minute, leaving no time for the Derg boys to mount a final response before the referee blew the full-time whistle. 😕

𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞: Clonoe 1-11 (14) Castlederg 1-10 (13)

For Castlederg, it was a hugely frustrating finish to a game in which they had been in control for significant periods. The missed chances, particularly in the first half, ultimately came back to haunt them as Clonoe took full advantage of the conditions and finished strongly.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬:

Our thanks to the Clonoe players and coaches for their part in a hard fought, competitive match played in a sporting manner. 👏👏👏

Thanks also to the referee for officiating. 👏

Finally, a huge thank you to all the parents, family and supporters who made the long journey across the county to roar on the Boys. Your support, as always, is greatly appreciated. 👏❤️🖤

🔴⚫ 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 (𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟): Senior Men Fall Just Short in Championship Semi-Final Clash 🔴⚫

After a remarkable first-half turnaround saw Castlederg lead 0-7 to 0-6, the Derg headed into the second half looking to secure their place in the Championship Final. 🙏

𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟:

Stewartstown burst out of the blocks in the second half, taking full advantage of the wind at their backs. A point from play inside the opening seconds tied the match, followed two minutes later by a long-range two-pointer to put them 0-9 to 0-7 ahead. 😲

Tensions then boiled over in the 4th minute of the half as a tussle resulted in a red card for Castlederg and a black card for Stewartstown. 🟥⬛️

Stewartstown added another point from play, but Castlederg refused to go down without a fight. A converted free brought us back to within two, setting the stage for the move of the match in the 10th minute, where a sharp, flowing team build-up finished with a clinical goal to put Castlederg back in front at 1-8 to 0-10. 🎯

The lead was short-lived as Stewartstown regained it with a 2-pointer from a free in the 14th minute and in the 18th minute they struck a pivotal goal to extend their advantage to four points, as the momentum began to swing in their favour. A further free put Stewartstown 1-13 to 1-8 ahead entering the final ten minutes. 😬

With the game becoming increasingly physical and both sides competing fiercely for every ball, Castlederg continued to fight for a route back into the contest. However discipline proved costly in the closing stages, as a second red card reduced us to thirteen men and further missed chances made the task even more difficult. Stewartstown capitalised with another late two-pointer from a free, pushing the gap to seven. 🫣

Showcasing the grit that has defined our season, the Red and Black threw everything forward in the final minutes, converting a late free and adding a final point from play, but time ultimately ran out on our Championship journey. 😕

𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞: Castlederg 1-10 (13) Stewartstown 1-15 (18)

The Senior Men's Championship journey may have ended at the semi-final stage, but the effort, commitment and spirit shown by the team throughout Sunday's contest was something the club can be proud of and gives us every reason to look forward to the future with real optimism. 👌

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬:

Our thanks to the Stewartstown players and coaches for their part in a tough, competitive Championship semi-final. 👏👏👏

Finally, a huge thank you to all the Castlederg supporters who made the journey to Killyclogher in such great numbers. Your unwavering support and backing were felt throughout, in the rain and in the tough moments of the match and it means the world to the team and the entire club. 👏❤️🖤

🔴⚫ 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 (𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟): Senior Men Fall Just Short in Championship Clash 🔴⚫

Our Championship run ended at the semi-final stage on Sunday afternoon, beaten 1-15 to 1-10 by a strong Stewartstown side. The five-point margin doesn't tell the full story of a tense, fiercely contested afternoon in which our men gave their all right up to the final whistle. ⚔️

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟:

The match got underway amidst driving rain, with Stewartstown settling quickest into the wet conditions. Capitalising on early momentum, Stewartstown reeled off four unanswered points, two from play and two from converted frees, inside the opening eight minutes. 🫣

The Derg men found themselves under immediate pressure, while a yellow card for Stewartstown in the fifth minute signalled the physical edge that would define the match throughout. 🟨

A crucial save from the Derg keeper in the 12th minute kept Stewartstown at bay, as the rain began to ease off. The Derg then started to exert some pressure of their own, with a well-taken point in the 14th minute getting them on the scoreboard. However Stewartstown responded with a point soon after, increasing the gap to five by the 18th minute. 😬

The turning point of the opening half arrived in the 20th minute when a brilliant strike from outside the 40 metre arc sailed over the bar for a vital 2-Pointer, cutting the deficit to three. With a growing belief, the Derg pressed forward, adding another point from play shortly after. Despite a period of missed chances, including three wides and a shot saved by the Stewartstown keeper, the men in Red & Black kept piling the pressure on. 🔥

In the dying minutes of the half, a point from play left the narrowest of margins, before a booming 2-pointer from a free in stoppage time completed a remarkable turnaround, bringing us into the changing rooms leading by one after a breathless first half. 💪

𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞: Castlederg 0-07 (7) Stewartstown 0-6 (6)

What a turnaround from the Derg! 🔴⚫
