A bad day at the office for the firsts as we go down to a 1-0 home defeat against Portaferry. A first half goal for the visitors gave them something to hang on to and that’s what they did, although it proved to be one of those days for our lads in what turned into a frustrating afternoon.

Dust ourselves off and back at it next Saturday when we welcome Distillery in the 2nd round of the Irish Cup.

A great start to the season for our seconds who were in rampant form in front of goal in the first half with Mosey and son Brogan both grabbing a first half double. Joe O’Neill also chipped in with a double while an early own goal meant it was 7 at the break.

The boys eased off a bit in the second half although still creating plenty of chances with Brogan completing his hat trick before Fitzy wrapped things up with a penalty near the end of the game. Tougher tasks will lie ahead but good to get started with a win and a clean sheet.

The firsts look to continue their 100% start to the league campaign as we welcome Portaferry to Corrigan Park. A regular opponent to the town in our Newcastle league days, this will be the first competitive game between both clubs in well over 10 years.

It’s always a tough encounter against Portaferry, so all support welcome.

The seconds begin their league campaign tomorrow with a trip to Downpatrick to take on Rossglass. After the highs of a Bobby Dalzell win last season, the lads finished the campaign on a poor run of defeats and will be looking to start much better this time around in the revamped Newcastle League Division 1.

Good luck to both sets of players and coaches.

All the goals and highlights from a great away win against Saintfield Utd on Saturday with the main chances all falling in a dominant second half performance.

Goals from Jack and Brogan on his senior debut secured a big 3 points. The lads now prepare for 3 home games on the spin, beginning with Portaferry in the league this Saturday before welcoming Lisburn Distillery in the Irish Cup on Saturday 12th.

A cracking opening weekend for our youth section, with 9 matches across 5 age groups and 5 wins on the board!

The 2016 Town came from behind to beat Valley Rangers with a Cian hat-trick, the 2017 Forest won in Lisburn despite playing the whole game with just six players, and both the 2018s and 2019s marked their first outings in the Lisburn League with a clean sweep of three wins apiece.

The 2013 Town opened their league campaign with a gutsy display in the lashing rain, the 2016 Forest battled to the final whistle against a strong Loughgall side, and our 2019 Forest and Colts got the season under way with smiles all round.

Congratulations to our eight Stars of the Match – Cian, Odhran, Adam, Gavin, Finn, Danny, Rosa and Ollie 🌟 Read the full coaches’ reports and photo gallery on the club website, and a huge thanks to every coach, parent and volunteer who made it happen. Well done to every young player who pulled on the green this week! 💚

A superb performance from the firsts today away to Saintfield as we make it 5 from 5 in the league, while inflicting a first league defeat of the season on the hosts.

Despite creating several chances in the first half the boys couldn’t find the net but that all changed early in the second half when Jack popped up with a goal to give us the lead.

More chances came but the introduction of U18 player Brogan injected some pace in the attack and the young striker made an instant impact finding the net in what was his competitive senior debut. As debuts go it was certainly an impressive one but a great performance all round from the lads.

Next up we welcome Portaferry to Corrigan Park next Saturday.
