A Huge Thank You and Farewell to the One and Only Cooper Bramley
Sadly, today is the day we say goodbye to Cooper as he heads back home to Australia. ๐ฆ๐บ
What a season he leaves behind at CCCC. As the first overseas player in our club's history, Cooper's arrival was a milestone for Charlesworth Cricket Club and an experience that will live long in the memory. From day one, he slotted right in.
With 41 wickets and being the highest outfield catcher, the statistics speak for themselves. However, numbers only tell part of the story of Cooper's time in Charlesworth.
Cooper arrived in the UK on his own, although it wasn't long before the family arrived. Dad Aaron, Mum Aimee, sister Halle and, of course, girlfriend Ayla all made the journey over. Cooper got to experience London and Paris with his family before they headed home, and later travelled to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid and Ibiza with Ayla. Before long, Cooper's family became Charlesworth's adopted Australian family.
He wasn't just our first overseas player; he became a huge part of the Charlesworth community.
On the field, we'll always remember his enthusiasm, energy and loud Aussie voice keeping the team going. And when his innings came to an end, the walk back to the pavilion and whatever strop followed was often one of the highlights of a Saturday afternoon!
Away from cricket, Cooper fully embraced village life. Whether it was a round of golf with the lads or joining Aaron to watch his beloved Hyde United, he threw himself into everything Charlesworth had to offer. We also learned fairly quickly that Cooper and BuzzBalls were not always the best combination!
If he wasn't out with the lads, you'd often find him behind the bar pulling pints at The George & Dragon, where Colin and his fantastic family welcomed him into their home for six months and treated him as one of their own.
Then there were the caps, seemingly permanently attached to his head, unless Rohan had pinched one and Cooper was chasing him around the field trying to get it back!
Cooper, it has been an absolute pleasure having you as part of the Charlesworth family. As our first-ever overseas player, you embraced the club, the people and everything that came with it, and you've certainly left your mark on CCCC.
Thank you for everything you contributed, both on and off the field. You will always be part of the Charlesworth family. We hope Australia feels like home again, but remember, you'll always have a home waiting for you in Charlesworth.
Safe travels, Coop. We hope to see you back this way one day soon!
