This weekend we packed up our racesuits and Santa hats and headed to Millfield for the Yeovil District Swimming Club - YDSC Christmas Meet! Some of the highlights of the weekend:
1. Winning the 'Best Dressed' Award in the Dance-Off.
2. Medals - 3 Gold (Annabelle, Amelia R x 2); 5 Silver (Annabel, Lottie, Oli, both Amelias); 6 Bronze (Lottie, Elliot, Zach, Amelia R, Dylan x 2).
3. Lottie qualifying for another event at County Championships.

Without doubt one of the biggest points of the weekend was the Boys/Open 50 Freestyle, the last event of the meet, which saw Jake go sub-29 seconds (28.66) and Masters Swimmer Oli go an amazing sub-26 seconds (25.94)!!

Our thanks to our swimmers; Team Managers Kat, Carl, Holly and Lynsey; and Mark Podbury of Burnham-on-Sea Swimming Club for his ever-generous support if needed. Thanks also to Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club for sharing the balcony with us for the entire weekend.

Next up is County Championships, beginning early in the New Year!

Just a quick reminder we are holding our AGM tomorrow evening 7.30pm in the cafe at the leisure centre.
We have committee roles available most noticeably the role of treasurer. This role is an executive role and the club can not run without a treasurer. If you or somebody you know would like to discuss any of the committee roles further please either message on here or email: [email protected]

Well done team Cheddar Kingfishers!

Dear all,

Thank you so much to all those who volunteered at the Development Meet this weekend. It was truly a pleasure to meet you all and welcome you to the team, and I hope you enjoyed your experience.

Some stats to share with you:

Including officials, a whopping 96 people volunteered to support our 550 swimmers, who came from far and wide, including London and Nairobi!
Between us we did well over 500 volunteering hours over the two days, plus countless hours from Kelly, Neil and the team in the build up to the meet.
Our best three clubs for volunteering hours per swimmer were:
Gold: Wells Swimming Club 🥇
Silver: Cheddar Kingfishers 🥈
Bronze: Team Bath 🥉

It takes an army of people to run our sport, so thank you once again for signing up!

Club Secretaries/Chairs: do get in touch if you’d like to know how your club members supported the meet.

If you have any suggestions or feedback please let me know, otherwise I hope to work with you again in the coming meets:

The IM and Relay Day - usually very busy and great fun - Sunday 20th October - sign up here:

Hi everyone
If your swimmer is competing on Sunday PLEASE sign up to help if you can! There is a danger at the moment that the event won't run as there aren't enough people signed up.
The link to volunteer was sent on an email earlier this week.
