Finally back on the trails with (sorry for the shadow) after a 7 week layoff with a back strain 😭. Felt heavy, sluggish and knackered, but it was lush to be out again!
Icelandic Adventures have been put on hold for another year, but we still have something up our sleeve for this summer!

The running fits around life, not the other way round. I had planned on running 32 miles (51.5km) for 32 years around the sun.
However, a marathon would have to suffice and not even in one go. 4 separate runs over 15 hours to get the mileage in. Not ideal but it’s what I want to do.
I don’t want to miss out on things with and Pheebs, and Work has to be done. So running fits in where it can.
Run 1 - 14km at 5.30am with and Neil. Cut short 💩
Run 2 - post p**p interval 8km 😂 three test makes it fair. No coffee before running.
Run 3 - 4.30pm 10km on the way to work.
Run 4 - 7.30pm 10km to get home.
So it is a 4 hour 15 marathon, spread over 15 hours. It’s not quite 32 miles but I’ll take 26 in miles and years please.

This talk is designed to use the stories from my last adventure to conjure philosophical thought and commuted action.
That is the aim. We might have a laugh, there will be some excellent footage from and hopefully a couple of celebratory drinks to follow (bar is open after all)

Yesterday I had to wear some smart clothes, probably for the first time in 2 years.
That meant smart shoes and not my (oh how I wished I had a pair of their smart shoes 😭)
My feet were in agony come lunch time. Toes all scrunched up from the stupid shape and pushed forward from the heel.
It’s safe to say I will be chucking these in the recycling and getting myself a lovely wide toe boxed and zero drop pair from
I endorse these shoes because I love them and have been wearing them for the last 7 years. They are kind enough to give me a 10% discount code (LEWIS10) that gives you a bit of money off and puts a bit in my pocket too.

This morning was one lacking enthusiasm so I decided to keep it flat and have a little exploration.
20 minutes in and I’d found a lovely new route over to
Followed by the very familiar res loop!
20km’s this morning followed by 10km this evening to get the day’s kilometres in.
Sometimes splitting the distance up makes it feel a little more manageable. Although I’m saying that now before heading back out 😂

Possibly the best part of training this time round. The social aspect that I didn’t know I was missing previously. These lot make it a little easier to be out the door at 5.30am.

Bit of a redemption run. 4 years ago when training for it was this run that I got injured on 8 weeks out from the adventure.
To run it today, injury free, certainly not pain free, with over a year of training to go, things are looking and feeling positive. 🤞
Big thanks to training partner we dragged each other through.
On to the next one.

Much flatter and a little longer than usual. (Hat required)
Good to have to chat with, that would have been dreadfully dull if solo.
Must have been zone 2 as we chatted the whole way, trying our best to ignore our seizing hips.
