Pleased with that π !!! Great result 13 th in my age group 55-59 F - lots of band work & being patient with a shoulder fracture rotor cuff injury - gradually building up F/ C I couldn't lift my arm over - or breath to either side - wasn't sure if that would have been possible 9 weeks ago mental determination & having a goal got me through π

Well done Anastasia SEVILLE MARATHON 5 min PB 3.35.13 ( TP 3.32! ) ( marathon No 4 ) congratulations after training with 100% commitment - Since October. I have coached Anastasia for 3 different Marathons, each one has given us both hurdles to get through still managed to jump over them . This time training went very well , all the long runs were completed some at TMP Endurance Z2 85-86% Threshold- still Anastasia had a slight ni**le in her foot from a previous injury so this was carefully monitored- Training also included cross training such as swimming and cycling plus strength & core , yoga and stretching.
Nutrition is also key during training and for race day practice hydration & nutrition intake on those long run to prepare for race day . Good sleep habits also - the body repairs & recover when sleeping. Race Day - the plan was to start off 15 seconds below race pace then increase slightly up to half 13 m then TMP to finish strong - Anastasia decided to go off at slightly faster than TMP - 20seconds faster than set - which she maintained for 19 miles , the heat proved to be a problem- training in the UK over the cooler winter months - Marathon day in Seville was in the 20s considerable temperature change for the body - I did advise Salt stick tabs which did help - at 19 miles after feeling strong Anastasia body was feeling it and started to overheat heart rate very high fortunately she was aware of the signs and did some walking in between the last 6 miles somehow managed to finish in still a very fast time and a PB not the Gold PB of Sub 3.30 but still an amazing time . I give my athletes achievable Bronze , Silver & Gold Goals so all outcomes are positive. However my personal view starting of slower especially in that heat building a negative split as per the race plan would have been a different story - Anastatia is more than capable of a sub 3.30 marathon time . Each race is different each gives a leaning curve which can be reflected upon afterwards to turn into a positive for next time . Well done again so very proud of your achievement Anastatia. π
