League Cup Final 2021-2022

Chelmer v witham league cup final 19.05.22

We go to Averley fc ground to finish our season v witham in the league cup final!! What a season of ups downs turnarounds but what a way to see the season out a cup final!!

The boys all turn up early we claim the home changing room and everyone is up for it.

A cracking stadium and a credit to our league to be able to provide these facilities to our veterans league.

We warm up in for a team talk and out we go, we line up and off we go, Chelmer nervy to start a little uneasy for 15 mins then skipper Danny v pulls he’s calf and comes off, Lee h drops into centre back Newman on.

We go up three gears and start to dominate all over the pitch Craig takes the ball wide right whips in a cracking ball ti back post Endo up against a defender keeps he’s eye on the ball finds the net cracking goal we’re one up.

We see the half out come in one up, regroup in the break Gaffa team talk tweaks a few things no changes we go out again, Craig and joe little mix up between them heated chats, two mins later balls wide left Endo ball in joe unmarked back stick cracking header were 2-0.

Chelmer dominating all over the pitch newman and Danny h winning everything breaking up play and breaking away with the ball.

Joe off Kev m on, Kev full of energy cracking runs down the right one on one lob on Kev Catches it well but not enough to lob the keeper good effort.

Danny h picks the ball up midfield 20 yard run beats three passes the ball wide left outside of the keeper curls in we’re 3-0 and cruising!!

Warren, Chris and Doug on all solid we see the last 15 out ti become cup champions!!

Some outstanding performances out there well everyone tbh Lee c run he’s legs off, glenn and Lee h amazing performances, dan a as always gave everything m, Jordi aka the juggler two maybe three worldie saves!! Little dan amazing Endo 👏👏 I could go on obviously a real team/squad effort!!

Special mention to paul staples who gave he’s spot up on the night for the team hats off my friend.

For me as Gaffa what a way to see the season out i personally think a cup win is better than a league win the occasion the night was brilliant.

I would like to thank my squad for staying positive and putting in the performances they have this year.

Chelmer v Spa park FC 07.05.22

Chelmer host high flyers spa park in the divisional 2 League cup with a home venue change to the Panfield bell ground.

A glorious day weather wise raining in the morning and sunny for the game Chelmer kick off and we’re flying from the off, 5 in Lee c closes down defender and slots over to Craig after picking up the loose ball, one on one with keeper no trouble at all slots home we’re one up.

Apart from a gobby centre back Spa offering nothing Chelmer get a corner big Danny v heads back across goal Lee c touch and in we’re two up and cruising.

Half time we’re in team talk done a few minor things to pick up on and one change Endo off newman on.

We start the half how we left off dominating all over the pitch, 20 to go warren on for Craig and Endo back on for joe who had given everything out there, Lee c to warren little dan with a long run from right back is free on the right warren finds him cracking cross from the byline and Endo pops up heads home we’re three up and in control.

Little dan shortly after that had given everything and needed to come off Gaffa on and Taner on.

Dan a gives a free kick away just outside the box with 5 to go, good free kick finds the corner round the wall spa get one back, they break again after the KO and two horrible bounces off Danny h and they slot hole again 3-2 with a minute to go!!

We see it out and into the final v Witham st averley.

An absolutely massive game and everyone put a shift in and that’s the result you get well done all involved.

And for our club both teams into cup finals and massive well done to all of us!

Now just to bring the silverware home!

Trotters v Chelmer quarters of the div cup!

Not posted in a while on a couple of games but couldn’t leave this one.

Cracking football day weather wise and a cracking venue at trotters, Gaffa very late due to heavy traffic and had 5 minutes to get ready but Lee c sorted team and kit and a quick change and we start.

Chemler very nervy for first five minutes and understandable due to people coming back into the side and playing out of position, however we settle in and start to dominate all over the pitch.

We have some great chances and score early on after a number of close misses, Lee c chasing down the keeper and slotting home we’re 1-0 up and in stride. Trotters pushing hard but no real chances!

Chemler are dominating all over the pitch we get another Endo again pressure on keeper slots home.

We break for the half one change to left back Kev m on Glenn off, and we maintain the momentum Kev m slots in nicely, 10 mins into second half Gaffa and Matt n off for Chris and Danny h on, Chris working well on left and Danny working well in centre.

70 in Gaffa back on joe off and Danny moved to right, trotters having a go but Chelmer solid all over the pitch.

Lee c breaks again a slots home 3-0 Chelmer are disciplined and on point no complaints at all!!

We see the game out worthy winners and into the semi finals of the cup!

All season for me this game says what Chelmer is all about every single member of the squad delivered today in terms of grit, determination, desire and team work and just look at what that achieves!!

We March on !!

Gaffa

Chelmer v Swansong Fc 5.02.22

A windy day at home v Newley reenforced swansong fc with 7 new signings from folded LTD from the prem division.

We start the game with bare 11 due to many injuries and some players not turning up, 30 seconds in we lose our new signing of returning Joe to a calf sprain, we’re down to ten.

Swansong creating chances but Chelmer all over the pitch battling, 25 in ball bounces in the box off swansong players face bounces into defender off keeper and drops kindly to striker were 1-0 down, we regroup and go again, Dan h down the left goes for the byline gets taken out free kick Chelmer on the byline to swansong goal.

Endo steps up delivers a great ball bounces Dan h onto it heads home we’re 1-1, 5 mins later Dan h down the left whips a ball in from the left keeper gets a good hand but spills Gaffa gets a toe on the stretch just can’t direct towards goal just wide!!

We come in 1-1 second half we gain another player all be it not fit or well we’re now 11 v 11 create a few chances but the energy expelled in the first half is telling.

We battle on and swansong get another lucky goal due to the ref not letting us bring on a player and letting the game run, swansong match on with energy all over the pitch.

Chelmer still enjoying battles all over the pitch but just lacking the pace and final ball.

Swansong get a good goal and another we’re 4-1 down but not out and continue until the 90th min, proud to be out there with ten men and held our own.

When we’re back to full strength will give them a decent game.

Week off now to regroup and then we go again!!

Blackmore reserves v Chelmer vets fc

A windy day away to Blackmore and a shocking pitch to say the least.

Chelmer start very slow and can not get the ball down and play our football the wind playing a part but the pitch is shockingly bad, we hold our own but Blackmore have the kick and momentum, only real chance Blackmore have break down the right ball in free header we’re 1-0.

We create some half chances but Chelmer no where near the races and missing their two strikers this week and is evident on the pitch.

Half time comes we regroup couple of changes we go out again, still starting a little slow but battling all over the pitch some half chances but again still not where we need to be.

Lee h moved up top creates a good chance down the right moves into the box Gaffa screams for the pull back Lee h see pulls back
Good touch from Gaffa and Is bought down from behind stone wall pen, Matt n steps up slots home we’re level.

Half chances one from smithy putting newman in for a clear shot but wide of the mark, 10 to go Lee h again takes the ball left plays Gaffa in on the left outside of the right boot effort from Gaffa keeper doesn’t move comes back off the bar no one following up, Blackmore break clear chance tap in for their midfielder puts it over the bar a left off the final whistle goes hate to say it but a fair result on paper.

However Chelmer player 70 minutes with ten men due to two sun bins and a close red, ref was shocking today for both sides although a little more favourable to our opponents!!

But we go again 7 unbeaten and we March on !!

45’s in action today as well with a good 4-0 win they March on also!!

Swansong next week at home!!!

Chemler v Herongate FC 22-01-22

A cracking day for football, sun out early on to take away the morning frost. Chelmer host Herongate fc, a new team formed for this season as our normal Herongate became Brentwood fc.

A good start from the visitors, a strong side with the ability to play but with a clear physical element to their game. It’s fairly even 20 mins in with Chelmer creating the better chances but unable to convert. Herongate a threat up top but Chelmer staying strong, Smithy with a battle in the middle a good tussle but Smithy could of given the foul away however Herongate player reacts badly and just swipes at smithy and the ref gives a straight red a tad harsh but fair.

We’re against 10 with 65/70 to go Chelmer still not firing all on cylinders but competitive all over the pitch, we win a free kick on the left balls driven in by Doug at low level gaffa tussles with their skipper balls skips by Lee c onto it quickly good save by the keeper but Lee c reacts quickly as always and slides home we’re 1-0 up a tad lucky with the goals but well deserved.

Half time we regroup and make three changes we go again, Chelmer better chances could go out the game to bed but Herongate to their credit with ten keep pushing and have some good chances, we break down the right Lee c fired a ball over to Craig he steadies
himself finds the back of the net a good goal but Chelmer still not at full strength and Herongate still look dangerous.

Couple more changes one due to injury and one tactical we March on, Herongate Corner mix up in the box own goal from Newman we’re 2-1.

We kick on hit the bar and post but still can’t put ourself clear but we see the game out and continue our winning run of 6 in a row.

We March on!!
