📸 Danbury Mission

A brilliant game from the weekend saw Community Church Stortford just pip past Braintree Churches United 4-3 in a truly thrilling game.

After the excitement of last week just one league game made it to this weekend but what a cracker its bound to be. Braintree Churches United take on Community Church Stortford at Melbourne Park.

"There is a new name on the trophy!"

A thoroughly brilliant day started with Central Baptist edging Braintree Churches United in an extremely close game. Danbury Missions clinicality saw them hit 7 against a Bethel side who themselves created multiple chances and would have felt unlucky not to score more. Central Park followed in another truly fascinating game where a strike with the last kick of the ball won the tie against a brilliant Community Church Stortford.

The main event saw a intreaguing contest which had chances a both ends. A goal early in the second half for Mahanaim gave them the advantage. However RCCG had the chance to go level with a penalty but a nice save from the Mahanaim keeper kept his side in it. RCCG piled on the pressure and if it weren't for the brilliance of the Mahanaim shot stopper would have levelled. clocked ticked into injury time and the ref blew his whistle with Mahanaim winning their first piece of silverware. Congratulations to all of our teams who once again contributed to what turned out to be a magnificent day.

This weekend we look forward to the highlight of our fixture lists, Cup Finals Day. A brilliant event that sees all of the teams in our league come together to play in a wonderful venue culminating in our League Cup Final. First off in the "very" early kickoff is Central Baptist vs Braintree Churches United, followed by newly crowned League Champions Danbury Mission who take on Bethel. Community Church Stortford then play Central Park in the 3rd place playoff. The finale of course being our League Cup Final where Mahanaim will be looking for their first ever piece of silverware agains RCCG who themselves are looking to win their 4th Cup in a row.

First game is at 9:30. Bar and food stall will be open. Free entry with a donation box to Chelmsford Food Bank on the door. Bring family, friends for what is going to be a brilliant day.

Massive congratulations to Danbury Mission who have won their first league title in 5 years and 9th overall with a 1-1 draw away at Central Park enough to see them over the line.

As we hit the final stretch of our league season Bethel travel to table toppers Danbury Mission, Central Baptist host Braintree Churches United and Central Park play again in their ancestral home in Collier Row against Community Church Stortford.
