The season starts tomorrow! Both teams in action as The Firsts welcome Danbury to The Zoo and the Rezzies travel to South Woodham for their opening games. Both will be looking to get off to a strong start and build some momentum as the season goes on. Up the Waltham 🙌

A fully stacked squad for the Firsts as we welcome league rivals Woodham Radars to The Zoo. A few new faces in amongst the squad who will be looking to make a name for themselves ahead of the new season

Early squad announcement for the Rezzies as the lads are clearly eager to continue their pre-season form! We welcome Writtle Reserves to The Zoo. Although new to the league, Waltham and Writtle have a long standing rivalry and will be good to face them again. Few new faces featuring for The Rezzies this weekend who will be hoping to make their stamp on the team.

The opening fixtures for both teams have been released and The Tigers will be looking to start their seasons strong and get some points on the board.

There is football every Sunday morning (weather permitting) at Little Waltham Sports and Social Club so all support is welcome. The Social Clubs facilities are open and very welcoming to all.

Pre-season - Little Waltham Sports and Social Club - Tufnell Hall

Waltham United Reserves 4 - 0 Maldon Social

The Rezzies started their pre-season campaign strong with a dominant performance against league rivals Maldon Social. Daniel Gregory finished the game with a hattrick, continuing his incredible scoring form from last season. Two of these were setup by central midfielder Max Turkentine and the other by his strike partner Joe Stewart. The final goal came in the form of a 30 yard screamer from midfielder Ryan Hart whos incredible effort went in off the post and bar with what is already a contender for goal of the season. The Rezzies defended really well throughout, creating loads of chances through a combination of different passing plays and intelligent runs.

They will look to continue this momentum as they welcome new boys Beret FC to The Zoo next weekend.

Waltham United Firsts 1 - 0 CFC Shalford

We once again encountered Shalford in pre-season, something that has become a bit of a yearly tradtion. Shalford are a physical and technically excellent team who play their football in the Premier Division of the Braintree & North Essex Sunday League setup. It was a hard fought game from both teams, each testing each others goalkeepers through the match. However, Waltham showed incredible resiliance and team work to keep the visitors out and it took a crossed free kick from Owen Stewart in the last 10 minutes to finally break the deadlock. The ball was whipped in with some pace and fullback Max Lawes met it well to head it home for the Firsts, ultimately winning the game. The Firsts held on to earn themselves a well deserved win and clean sheet in their first pre-season games. Several new faces were sporting the tiger on their chest and everyone put a shift in to beat a very good visiting side.

We're up 2-1 in pre-season games with Shalford and we look forward to playing them again next season.
