Hi All, We have two more open mornings, Saturday 23rd May and Saturday 30th May both at 10.00am until 12.
This weeks was due to be in the afternoon but the match planned for the morning has been cancelled so we are open in the morning. If you have never tried lawn bowls now is your chance. Just turn up with flat soled shoes on, eg trainers , and we provide the rest. You will have an experienced bowler or one of our coaches to help you get the hang of it. Writtle Bowls Club is one of the best settings to play bowls in Essex. So come along and have go.

Thursday saw our yearly game against the Sputniks. As ever we had all sorts of weather from bright sunshine to hailstones. But we persevered and a great time was had. The Writtle catering team excelled themselves with a wonderful 2 course lunch which included 7 possible desserts! Thanks to all who played and volunteered in the kitchen and bar.
Look forward to seeing the Sputniks again next year.

Yesterday saw the start of the bowling season with our first game, Captain v Vice Captain. The weather was wonderful and the game very close. The Vice Captain's team coming out the final winners. It was great to be back on the green and looking forward to a new season of bowling.

The bowling season starts on 18th April and the team are today sprucing up the green and garden. The weather is great and with luck we'll have a good start. Thanks to everyone who came to help.

This morning we finished drilling the drainage holes in the green. We have drilled almost 5,000 holes in the last 4 weeks when the weather has allowed.
Thanks go to all of the team who volunteered. In case you cannot recognise the bottoms we have included a team photo of today's team.
Now we are keeping our fingers crossed that all this hard work pays off when the season starts.

Another great quiz at Writtle bowling club last night. Lots of people and lots of fun was had by all with 5 rounds of 20 general knowledge questions. The local fish and chip shop provided the food which made it a really good night.
Not too long now until the start of the season, let's hope the rain stops before then.
