Busy week of matches for us this week, with mixed fortunes; many tight results that could’ve gone either way!
- Essex Mixed 4 win 5-1
- Southend Men’s 6 loss 4-5
- Southend Mixed 6 (Cup) loss 4-5
- Chelmsford Men’s 6 loss 4-5

An all-CDBF mixed doubles final in the Colchester Open yesterday saw a local derby with Riverside taking on Danbury! The latter edged out in a 3-set battle that thrilled the crowd.

Well done all and especially to our members Hannah and Raff for their medal haul, including in the women’s and men’s doubles! 🥈🥈🥈🥉

A great night yesterday at the annual SDBA Awards Night, with our team retaining the PG Cup for the 2nd year running, and many of our players scooping tournament titles too. Not to mention our very own Raff Pratheek Badrinath on the mic with MC duties.

They triumphed 6-3 over The FitzWimarc Badminton Club to defend their title and win the trophy again.

Thanks to Andrea for organising another fantastic tournament. And well done to both teams for such an entertaining final. Could have gone either way!

Our very own Hannah Summons and Raff Pratheek Badrinath made their debut for Essex yesterday. Some excellent performances with a tight 5-6 loss and a strong 10-1 win. Keep going guys 💪

Brilliant continuation to our Men's 1sts season with a 6-3 win against a strong Danbury side last night in CDBF Div1:

- Raff Badrinath/Tom Grafton took a hat trick, with a tight game especially against Danbury's 1st pair with every game going to extra points.
- Fraser Bradshaw/Tom McCarthy contributed a brace, with 2 convincing wins and dropping a tight 3-setter in a great battle.
- Rob Clark/Ben Bradford did very well to contribute one towards the win in a well-fought 3-setter.

Shoutout also to our Men's 2nds for starting their County Div3 campaign with a convincing 6-3 win.

Our Southend & District Badminton Association men’s team got their Premiership campaign underway yesterday with a 6-3 win. Well played guys!
