Ever surfed a race paddle board? I did today and it was awesome 😎
Yesterday’s race start.
Lessons learnt
1. Make sure you fuel up properly. I got my nutrition totally wrong and paid a price. Wobbly and tired from the start.
2. Deload your training before an event but not too early or you will feel sluggish and over rested.

Today’s session was focusing on power
Worked on deadlifts with the hex bar. This exercise is great for leg power and is slightly safer for you than a straight bar.
I worked on the concentric contraction and lowered the bar without resistance to minimise soreness and allow me to train again sooner. Also I am working on strength and power so not as concerned with the eccentric movement.
This movement is great for surfers for developing pop in the stand up phase and good for paddle boarders for strong paddle strokes.

This was today’s workout tool, the Concept2, Inc. ski ergo. It’s the closest gym based piece of equipment I have found to paddling and is great for interval training. Worth a go if you have one at your gym and has seriously made me consider getting one for my PT studio 🤔

Why so serious looking?? This is the face of concentration, this was much harder to maintain my shoulder line than I expected. Was still a great exercise and will for sure strengthen the shoulders for paddling and surfing 🏄♂️🏄♂️🙏🌊

Using some different tools to make pushups more interesting and more surf relatable.
Intervals yesterday way better than being in the gym.
Final exercise in the plate workouts for paddlers. Is there anything you would like to see next?
Weights plate shoulder exercise, great for mobility and shoulder endurance.
