Before we even got in the water, I spent time speaking with physiotherapists and occupational therapists I know to better understand how I could support Kathryns rehabilitation journey safely and effectively.
Fast forward six weeks and four swim sessions… it’s time to go all in. Military-style determination, with a gentle 2026 twist. Well I left picking up the brick out this week.
Today wasn’t just about swimming. It was about rebuilding confidence, regaining independence, and proving that adversity doesn’t have to define what’s possible.
Watching someone relearn life skills with such courage, resilience and determination is incredibly humbling. Every length completed is another step forward, and I couldn’t be prouder of the progress we’ve made together.
This is exactly why I love what I do. Helping people discover that they’re capable of far more than they ever imagined is one of the greatest privileges of coaching.
To Kathryn my swimmer you’re an inspiration. This is only the beginning. 💪🏊

The perfect wedding for the perfect couple! My beautiful daughter & son-in-law 🥰
I feel that the time is right to explain what happened to me back in January. By sharing this, I’m hoping that it will save lives but more importantly, stop tongues wagging in the wrong direction!
So back in January, I experienced a thunder clap headache ( not a migraine)one evening whilst working. Just thinking that hormones were responsible, I thought nothing too much into it. As time went on, I felt very sick, but my body turned into a tap where it wouldn’t allow me to be sick. An ambulance was called as symptoms weren’t getting better & on route to hospital, I was sick ( 3 litres) my headache still didn’t go away. I was scanned at hospital & the scan showed a subarachnoid hemmohhage, basically showing bleeding in the brain. A drain had to be put in my brain to drain off pressure that was being created, followed by coils & stent procedures which kept me alive, but unfortunately gave me a stroke. Since then I have been in three different hospitals, including ICU in two of them, then the last being the start of rehab- learning to walk again etc, all those things which we take for granted. I’m still continuing my rehab at home, which is going well, but it’s a very long process of getting the brain to rewire with movements of the body to allow me to move again which is a very emotional journey. So ladies, please don’t assume hormones & migraines are something that is real. If in doubt, get yourself checked out. Don’t assume being fit & healthy outrules this, as most of you know my line of work & the efforts of staying fit & healthy don’t necessarily mean that you’ll be mover come across this. I’m lucky that being fit & healthy kept me alive at the start. Feel free to chat if you see me out & about, but please appreciate how tiring it is starting the journey from scratch every time someone wants to know something. A big thankyou to all who have helped & supported me during my journey so far! For now I will continue my journey getting stronger & trsting when needed. Fingers crossed I’ll be back out again very soon.
