We're running (the first ever?) Bronze DofE Open Expedition programme specifically for home-educated teens, working with our sibling enterprise, P4HE/GIFT. They've negotiated a new route to registration for home-edders previously excluded from the Award. Expeditions in Ashdown Forest and the South Downs!

Celebrating DofE success at Beacon Academy Beacon Academy celebrated the achievements of its 2022-23 DofE cohort with an awards ceremony last week.

We're going to be running a programme of DofE expeditions for home-educated young people. Our friends at www.p4he.org/dofe2 have the details. They've persuaded DofE to allow home-educators who were previously excluded from the Award to access it via DofE Direct. We'll be running Bronze and Silver in Ashdown Forest and the South Downs.(including our founder, Jason, wearing a different hat)

Someone putting their memories of Bronze DofE to creative use... "Thirty years ago at high school I went on a camping trip for a Duke of Edinburgh Award and there was a point where I thought I was going to be consumed by the midges," he said.
"I imagined my stripped skeleton being presented back to my parents, with a bronze award as consolation."

With a Gold expedition out in Northumberland at the moment, we hope we're not providing material for a sequel...

All our Bronze groups have done their training now, some are onto their practice in the coming weeks and a few have already squeezed in their qualifying expeditions. Adding all the distance they'll have walked by the end of the season, it's something like half way round the world! Here's the video we filmed this year to let young people know what to expect.
