Today's champion takes home Β£500,000. π€―

In the 1920s, early synthetic snooker balls were made from nitrocellulose - the same chemical used to make gunpowder!
When two balls collided, they could literally EXPLODE with a loud bang like a gunshot! One Colorado pool hall owner wrote: "I didn't care so much about it, but instantly every man in the room pulled his gun!"
The balls were quickly replaced with safer materials. Imagine that happening at the Crucible today
